| | | but what about the catacombs? I mean, c'monnnn
And hypothetically speaking, what would be the best way to get something like that back to the states? Checked luggage? Carry on? Mail it? put tags on it to make it look like it was bought somewhere? anyone know the legal repercussions dealing with human skulls? Think something like that could send you to prison?

| | | disturbing a grave is probably illegal--I dont know french laws, nor the laws that relate to the catacombs... That said, seriously--dont fuck with graves--its just rude. Want a human skull? There are plenty of places that will sell you one.

| | | Haha I've seen this question before, and the person who posted it got shot down in flames. Do yourself a favor, and google it or do your own research. Human body parts are a touchy subject, ESPECIALLY stealing them. There are occult stores and whatnot you can get them at I'm quite certain, at least thats what the people trying to help the last guy who asked this question said. To each his own..... Just leave my relatives skulls alone...

| | | Don't grave rob! That's just wrong. Leave the dead in peace. However, if you want a skull, there are places that sell various grades of them. Real skulls range from medical grade, nearly perfect ones used for teaching and research, down to decorative, that may be missing teeth, have holes or cracks, etc. Expect to pay between 200-800 if I remember correctly. Alas, poor yorick! Explorers want your head!!

| | | I may be mistaken or really daft, but i think this guy is talking about physically taking the catacombs and bringing them to the United States, as opposed to needing to go allll the way to France to see them. That could just be me, though.

| | | hypothetically (ban me or whatever), I'm in france, heading back to america tomorrow. I may have taken something from the catacombs to bring back as the best souvenier I could possibly ever get. Wondering the legalities of different means of bringing it over.

It may not be in your best interests to bring it over. That's just how i see it, though. Your best bet would be to pilot your own craft(boat, plane) from France to the U.S. or something. I'm not sure of laws(or probability) with that, though. I own a few different pieces of human remains, but have kept them in the country. I've never had to deal with much other than getting it off of the property.

Try shoving it up your ass. Because not only is that the only likely way you're getting a skull here, but your shredded asshole would also make the rest of us feel a bit better about what a dumbfuck thing you're doing.

I think attempting to bring this into the states is going to bring you a load of trouble you don't need. In the post-9/11 world, they aren't fooling around anymore. You may get lucky and get a couple of lazy security types and be ok, but if it goes wrong, you WILL go down for it. Grave robbing for starters, plus I assure you the French have antiquities laws protecting items from simply being carted off. Not to mention, could it be construed by DHS as an attempt at some sort of bio warfare? Dead body parts will probably red flag you! Transportation by other means carries no less risk. X-ray machines, dogs, etc. Somebody will get wise if you send it through UPS or the like. Its just a bad idea. If you choose to attempt it, I think you are being foolish.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

| | | If you want a skull you could dig up your grandma or something. Honestly disturbing a grave is just wrong. If your serious about buying human remains I was at an auction a year ago and one went for $150.00. No one in the room bid on it, it was an over-the-phone bidder. -Tom

I doubt many here will side with grave robbing; it's just wrong. Especially from historic site like the catacombs.
