| | | | Sunday wanderings: Baker edition! (NO 56k... at all) < on 2/26/2007 2:59 AM >
| | | Well, it keeps calling to me and I have no choice but to go to it. The Baker... the delectable and delightful Baker. There are 21 pictures, so it might take a bit to load up. Also, check out the Sunday Wanderings II: Destination Interruptus for a rather humorous occurence at a second location. 1.

| | | Incredible photos of an incredible place. The photo of the ballroom looking down makes it look almost not abandoned. Now remind me - is this an active hotel in which only the top ballroom is abandoned or is the whole place empty? Thanks again!

Whole place is empty - 14 floors, 460 rooms. It really is just a beautiful building.

I believe it is control circuits for the elevator system. Someone can confirm or deny this.

That huge bank of relays is at the bottom of the spiral staircase that leads to the topmost room. It's an Otis!
I wonder if anyone washed the windows up there?

Yes, I was actually thinking of a hotel in Canada in which the top ballroom is not allowed to be used because they can't bring it up to fire code for some reason. And it looks remarkably like the one pictured here. Geez, just reading that the whole place is abandoned caused my salivary glands to go mental. Truly and awesome place. Cheers
