| | | some very good stuff i'm not crazy about the second picture. it's not very crisp, a bit crooked and i'm not sure what to focus my eye on. if i were you i would go for the SLR. i got one about 6 months ago and i love it. but it's a big expense. i insured mine because i cant afford to replace it. it only cost $35 a year for up to $2000 in camera equipment. i would like to see more of you work if you have a site or whatever.
F this I"m going exploring! |

| | | Get a film camera. It will force you to focus quickly (not to waste shots) and u wont suffer from that flat effect on your shots with color unless ur familar with PS. Working with a fixed lens also forces you to move and try new angles. Try a 20mm-35mm for a wide and go from there.

| | | with the close ups, watch your backfocus.. I've had a problem with that.. 1 and 3 would look much better with the foreground in focus. these are good though!!

| | | thanks for the feedback yall.... gotta focus gotta focus... by the way what are the advantages or disadvantages of film vs digital? (sorry if i sound ignorant but photography is just becoming a passion of mine.. started out just trying to preserve a piece of my heritage for myself, but if it looks purty then others might be interested and the world wont forget Youngstown) delusions of grandeur... anyway what do ya think about this one?

me neither, i always have to chime in when i see composition that can be easily corrected. just crop out the stuff that isn't adding anything to the image / distracting you from what you should be looking at.

| | | Great location. Nice to see some work from that part of the Rustbelt! Let's not start plastering the locations from that particular city all over the web though. Keep it in PM's.

Too late. It was a great tour, though. Lots of historical tidbits about the Rustbelt via that link if anyone's interested.

| | | #2 really bothers me, it feels like such incredible wasted potential - it has all the makings of a terrific photo, but unfortunately failed to deliver - in large part because of the focus sadly. That said, I don't mean to be over-critical, and I'm really digging #5, it seems like a "simple enough" trick - but it really works out well with this photo and leaves me "wanting" to see outside the edges of the tube...but of course, like orgasm denial...the brilliance is in not letting me. That was probably a crappy metaphor...but you get mai drift :Þ
