| | | New camera, new photographer < on 12/30/2006 8:31 PM >
| | | Grandma gave my son a new digital camera. Today we took a small expo trip trough some out of the way parts of Rotterdam. Of course there are no deserted buildings in The Netherlands (too neat - those bastards!). But we found a few nice places. My son took the pictures. It was very dark and cloudy and we had a lot of trouble to get sharp pictures - we had left the tripod at home. Tips, tricks and critique are welcome.

| | | It's really cool that you took your son out to explore. He's got a pretty natural eye for composition. I'd definitely suggest a tripod though, depending on how serious he is about photography.

| | | The camera was a Nikon Coolpix L4 and it is much better than my own cheap digital camera. If my own Olympus c370 didn't work so well after two years I might be tempted to buy one. Unfortunately the Nikon is dead. My son dropped it while photographing an illegal fireworks experiment. Of course in that one moment he didn't use the wrist strap ... But he has a lot of cool video's - like combining fireworks with a can of deo-spray. I'm glad he didn't tell me beforehand - and I'm even more glad that he still has all his eyes and fingers. But the camera is a good excuse to let his friends do the dangerous lighting. I'll try to post some on youtube.
