| | | Hi - this is my first time posting here - some friends and I went and took a look at this place yesterday, here are some pictures (I have a bunch more, but they exceeded the file size limitation):

| | | Heya, We didn't have any problems at all - we drove in and circled it a couple of times with me snapping pics from the car, then parked at the apartments next door - the tenants there seem rather dodgy, but the car was untouched. We were there right before sundown also, and it didn't seem like there was anybody watching us really. I do like the hallway shot as well - unfortunately the guys I was with were moving pretty quickly and I didn't have a chance to use my tripod, so everything was handheld in available light... hopefully on my next excursion I'll have more time to do proper setup.

| | | Nice pics, did you use a lens baby or something for some of those shots? Pretty cool.

| | | Ooh, RevSM - seriously one of my heroes from browsing your suv.topcities site... amazing work you've done man! No LensBaby action - I use a Nikon D50, this trip with a Nikon 35mm f/2.0. I think you're talking about the blurry outer edges, right? Vaseline has so many uses. ;) cdevon1200 - Yeah, I'd definitely like to go back to get better pictures and I'm game for meeting as many people that're into UE as I can. This was my first exploration, so I'd like to try some other places, but perhaps sometime around the first of next year would work - it would be awesome to get shots of snow on this place.

| | | Wow, thank you very much! And the truth is, you really don't know the half of it! I'm currently working (very slowly) on totally renovating the entire site. I'm hoping to get a new camera very soon so I can step up the quality a bit. I never used vaseline but only because I can't remove the lens on my current camera. Great job capturing your first UE experience!

| | | Can I interest you in a camera? Heh, I was doing my semi-annual camera check and cleaning tonight and got up and realized they were all in a circle around me. A trick to doing the Vaseline effect is to pick up a cheap UV filter and put the Vaseline on it instead of the lens; you might try it since you don't have removable lenses. Depending on what I'm doing I'll double stack UV filters... one with Vaseline around the edges and one I modified to be a vignette filter. I've found it works really well for black and white pictures. Anyways, I think I'm getting really off topic for this thread so I'll hush now. :p Cheers

| | | Great shots! I went by your site and really like the work there, especially the macro stuff. Can't wait to see what else you find.
I'm a blatant waste of time and resources. |

| | | Thanks for the comments everybody - it is a pretty cool building and you should go see if it you get a chance! Happiedaze - I use the Lab method in Photoshop for black and white... this shows how to do it: http://www.journal...lack_and_white.php lol 2Xplorations - wonder if there'd be a market for selling those ;)

no mostly I was just trying to add some humor to all this drama no they do not make black and white memory cards if there is not a menu function setting in your camera somewhere called: sepia tone, artsy fartsy or b&w; you'll need to use some sort of image software to change the image to grayscale

| | | I didn't think so. Thanks for getting my hopes up. I was surprised when I realized my new camera did not have these settings. Oh well, if thats the price I have to pay for having a kick ass camera, so be it. I will just have to learn Photoshop. OR something like it.
