Dance Your Cares Away
| | | a quick mid-day trip. < on 10/17/2006 1:26 AM >
| | | One day last week I saw this building on my route. Happiedaze and I checked it out, and our curiosity got the better of us. We just had to go in. So we got out the flashlights and camera. It appears to have been a printing plant or something of the such. Most of the downstairs was empty, obviously a warehouse, even had railroad tracks coming into the building.
It was obvious the recent copper thieves making the news had been here.
We usually like to try to find dates, so we know how long it's been empty. No luck here, but we did find a neat old time-clock.
The men's restroom.
And the women's. No wonder it's called a RESTroom.
Then we went upstairs, which held the offices. Tons of things made of glass bricks. Sadly, many were smashed. The entrance had a large area, also made of glass bricks, about 6 feet long and 3 feet wide, full of packing peanuts. Weird.
Several lessons were learned during this trip. 1.) Take lots of extra camera batteries. This is the first time we didnt, and of course the cam died. B.) Dont scout locations at lunch, you'll find yourself going in when you dont have extra camera batteries. 3.) Just because you thought a building was occupied a month or so ago, doesnt mean it is today.
...They will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines! |

| | | I really started feeling like we weren't alone in there. I usually get that feeling when we've been in a place longer than 20 minutes or so. I usually have to fight the urge to run out, but I always do fight it, and its always totally worth it. I also always get that 'maybe coming in here wasn't such a good idea' feeling almost every time we go into a place, and think I'm never going to again, but of course I always do. I think that feeling is what makes me keep looking for new places.

| | | Nice pictures. What I want to know is..... did Happydaze go in the Men's room for the shot or did Edmond_Dantes go in the Ladies room for that shot? What, no gratuitous toilet shot? That's always a UE staple photo!! No wonder HD got the feeling she shouldn't be there.. LOL

Actually, I was going to take a picture of the restroom that had a small bed with pillow and blanket with a broken toilet in the background, but the darn batteries died! And I will admit (reluctantly) that both of us went into both restrooms. You got me. hehe...

Heh, it's been a while since I've had that feeling. I only get that way when I do something I normally wouldn't, like park on the site. You might find that the feeling slowly goes away and you need to see the bigger and better and more risky. Nice Job!

Yeah. See, it really doesn't count as a valid exploration without the obligatory toilet shot. Sorry guys! LOL
