| | | Well this is my first attempt at photography. These pictures were taken with a Sony DSC-T1 camera. Haha, i couldnt find my brothers tripod so i had to balance the camera on a stick i found. Im planning on exploring the insides of this place sometime soon. All comments and critiques are welcome. 1.

P.S: The images have been shrunken down quite a bit so quality is somewhat compromised...

| | | Right....I didn't read what you had written at the top. They just seem a little....bright. But I love all that greenery coming off the top of the building. Can't wait to see your shots of the insides. [last edit 7/1/2006 1:33 AM by sarnelefant - edited 1 times]

| | | not bad for first. i'm certain you don't need a tripod with that much sunlight. i'd focus on getting more of a subject to your photographs, concentrate on a single detail or scene you're trying to convey. like number 3. [last edit 7/1/2006 3:51 AM by laslow - edited 1 times]

| | | Very good first series. It seems like this place would be pretty interesting on the inside. As for the pictures, a few could stand to be cropped a little bit, and your subjects can sometimes be bland. I'd say, try a few unconventional angles.

| | | I like #3 the best. It could be cropped and rotated a tad, but the barrel distortion really shows. I like it though, the rust sharing the same frame as the green grass and trees really set it off. [last edit 7/1/2006 11:58 PM by big dave - edited 1 times]

| | | #3 is nice, aside from the wires. The growth of the vines on the one silo, nice lighting too. Tripods usually aren't needed for outdoor shots, especially in bright sunlight. But indoors they are quite necessary, especially with your camera since it doesn't have manual modes or shutter/aperture priority that I can tell. When you go inside, if you can, disable your flash and hopefully the camera will take long exposures. Good luck, looking forward to your next series.

| | | For your first shot this isn't bad at all! I especially enjoy number 3 and like the guys said just try some nice detail shots with good framing, lighting, and focus.

| | | Umm i have some bad news. I went back to go take a look inside, and the whole place is locked up. I went to the church that owns the property and they refused to let me in. I know one of the key rules of uer is not to break into places and stuff and although im dying to do it, i cant justify it. edit: Sorry i took so long to reply. Ive just been really really busy with the car and stuff. Thank you all for the compliments and the positive feedback. Good to know that people are still helpful nowadays. Thanks again. Next time ill try to improve my shots based on what you guys told me. [last edit 7/18/2006 9:51 PM by cwestcivic5 - edited 1 times]

| | | I'd say focus more on the silos and barn - the shed makes for lame pics. As or the technical aspects of hte shots, i'm a noob as well. Keep it up.

| | | when shooting building in bright light like this, its generally best to shoot the sunny side of the building. i like 1 and 3 the best. i'm not at all sure what your intent was on #5 and #6. they are both very confused, with lot of different things going on, the building obscured by plants, not really interesting. nothing to focus on. go back to the far left window on #6. and take a picture so that the entire window just fits in the left hand side of the picture, and then you can get a neat picture of a branch in the way, the window, and the texture of the wood and paint on the outside. i'm not sure if you're envisioning this, but i am, and it looks good in my head.
