How to meet and explore with current UER members?

I've already made several posts asking if anyone would want to explore the central Florida area, but so far it's been radio silent. How would a "rookie" on a basic membership find people on this form to meet? Considering it's one of the membership requirements.

P.S. I've been researching a few dozen spots with pretty good potential. Plus, I have some decent equipment, HMU!

That part of the member thing is pretty loose, these days at least. You've only been here for a month. Keep posting and networking. UER isn't what it used to be, so be open to talking on other platforms and meeting people there. As much as I hate Instagram for exploring and in general, it you ask someone to meet up they probably will.

Yeah, and the "must meet with a UER member to get full member status" rule is a pretty loose one these days. It might take a tad bit longer without someone vouching for you, but if you just keep posting your adventures and contributing to the community (what's left of it, here) then it's entirely possible to get FM status without ever meeting up with anyone. Plus, Florida is just not a good region for urbex- to my knowledge there's not much of an urbex community in the south outside of NOLA, so explorers in your neck of the woods are few and far between.

I am on my 2nd acct. I earned FM on both in about 3mo just by being active and sharing pics. Mods, and all of us for that matter, LOVE pics!! When I returned after closing the 1st, I didn't even bother proclaiming previous member because earning the 1st time was pretty easy. I don't think I even applied for FM - it just happened. BUT - I have recommended folks who share lots for FM. I also have NEVER met another UER member in person, not once....

You can try messaging people in your region to meet up, but it’s definitely not as active as it used to be here. You’re probably better off trying to meet people on instagram. This site used to be really active and was super easy to meet people, especially with chat, but depending where you live, it might be kind of hard. Just keep posting pictures and commenting and you’ll have FM in no time.

I had no idea this community was on the decline. Okay, I'll keep doing my own thing and post about it. I'll try hitting up some people on Instagram, but I haven't had much luck with that in the past. Thanks for the advice.

You have touched on what works time and time again. Not just on this forum, but practically any group like this that you are hoping to join and gain a place in.

I've looked at all of your posts and you are off to a good start. Now go out and do an explore, even if it's on your own. It doesn't have to be epic. Cool graffiti under a bridge. A abandoned house with some old furniture or old car out front. You might not think it's even worth posting pictures of, but take photos and post them here with a bit of a story about your day. We ALL understand what it's like to just be starting out.

Do this a few times. Pictures & stories. Pictures & stories. That's what we all live for. UE members in your area will notice that you are serious about exploring, and they will begin to want to explore with you. Sometimes it takes a while, but it does work.

Keep kicking it! I'm looking forward to seeing your posts telling us about your most recent adventure. (Oh yeah, if you already have some pictures, put them up with a little back story about them.)
