I have been thinking of this lately and wanted to ask other urbexers about this. Which type of abandoned building do you prefer, ones in rural areas or ones in urban areas?

I honestly prefer rural as even though I love urban abandoned buildings more, there's so many more risks to urban abandoned buildings I usually am just able to spend more time at rural abandoned buildings

I prefer urban because it's easier to get to. All other things equal, I'd be happy if the best sites are no more than 10 minutes away from my home.

By default my exploring is almost always rural. Pretty rare to find urban mines to explore. Plus I really enjoy getting out of town and camping right on site. For me, nothing beats waking up in the morning out in the middle of nowhere with nature all around. Make a cup of coffee and watch the desert meet its new day.

Rural, regional, outback, urban... I'd check out an abandoned phone-box if there was nothing else.

My favorite locations to explore are the bigger rural sites, IE prisons, shopping centers, munitions plants, and mining buildings. There are pros and cons to both types of locations. The biggest one for me is the urban locations tend to get a lot more traffic, and inevitably get blown out much faster. To me there's nothing better than walking into a well preserved location that looks so undisturbed, you could almost believe you were the first one to set foot inside since it closed ten or twenty years before.
