The Meth Lab Hospital < on 5/21/2016 1:49 AM > | Reply with Quote
I got to visit some family out in East Texas and we decided to take a short trip out to the old hospital in the middle of town!
T&P Hospital was built sometime in the 1920s and served the workers of the railroad. It apparently burned in a fire in the 70s and has since been inundated with asbestos and crackheads. I remember hearing a story from a fellow member several years ago about accidently running into a small meth lab on the second floor. We were fortunate, however, and encountered no one.
I wish I'd been able to find this place ten years earlier. The building has been completely trashed and scrapped. There were entire corridors that we could not access due to the level of debris and trash.
I was surprised to see furniture still in this place considering the damage to the rest of the building!
After we left the room with the incinerator, we saw a car pull up and slowly roll forward while watching us. We waved, but they kept eyeing us, so we booked it :')

Everyone who goes to this town hits this place up. It actually looks cleaner then when I visited about 6 months ago. If you get a chance to go again, head there early morning. On the 2nd floor, east side of the building, there is a room on the left that had tons of vines growing in. It makes for a great shot with the sun coming up. I'm surprised you didnt post any photos of the stairs. Every set I've seen has them - they're decaying goodness and quite frankly the best part of the whole place! There's a store right next door. Park there and walk over. Nobody will give you any grief. But it's SUPER sketchy as far as the local inhabitants go - pepper spray is HIGHLY recommended.
Also, if you plan another trip up there, there are a couple of other well established explorers that live in the area you should make contact with. Let me know if you plan another trip and I can send you their names as well as turn you on to a few places you may want to visit.

You're definitely right, the stairs were my favorite! I took several photos of them but my lens was a 50mm (had lost my 28mm that week) so my composition was pretty messed up :c I'll definitely hit y'all up in I'm in that area again!
