| | | Posted by blackhawk Meh, truth be known I'm a ghost. People's belief and fear of the paranormal is ingrained at a subconscious level. In a dark tunnel complex like was at Pennhurst it could be used to your advantage to spook out unwanted kiddies. It really doesn't take much. They were about 300 feet away coming down a staircase from the hospital store area talking up a storm. They had no good flashlights and it was obvious they didn't belong down in the tunnels. I put out my light as soon as I heard them and waited. I kicked some debris lightly, they quieted down, did it again a bit harder, they started talking in hush tones. Moment of truth... I left out a low deep moan. They bolted up those stairs like they just had heard a ghost. I was having trouble controlling my laughter in the darkness. Guess they left the campus because I never saw or heard them again that day. Boo!

| | | Actually me and a friend did have a weird encounter once, but I forgot about it until just now. We were in a huge mill that was pretty wide open back then, and suddenly we start hearing what sounds like a voice. It's the middle of the day and we think it's probably security, so at first we are worried about getting caught and start looking for a place to hide. When we enter one of the main rooms to go down a set of stairs the sound suddenly gets louder, and unfortunately more distinct. We whisper to each other and agree that it sounds like someone wretching convulsively- it was one of the most guttural, animalistic sounds I have ever heard, and it was terrifying. Whatever it was kept spewing out this horrible noise in an unsettling rhythm, and it sounded all wrong... it was like nothing I have heard before or since. Keep in mind that this friend had never been "exploring" before and this was a seriously big, dark location so even before anything happened he was freaked out. Now I could tell he was terrified, and I was pretty scared too. We stepped back, quietly discussed and decided to immediately go the opposite direction from this sound and then get the hell out of there ASAP. Neither of us knew what it was, or whether it was even a person, but I know I didn't want to find out. I came to find out later that the remaining sump would make some pretty weird noises, so I don't know whether it was that or someone who was having a really bad day, but I'm pretty certain it was not a ghost My friend never went exploring again
| "See you guys, you never listen to me. I said there was gonna be trouble but you didn't listen to me. You guys are crazy. You know, you guys are self destructive. There's a funny farm and it has your names written all over it. But I'm gettin' out of here. I'm... I smell ice cream!" |

| | | One of the first shoots I did was at an abandoned college near me, just the external. As I was going around by where the gymnasium was, I heard this banging, shuffling, and voices from inside. I took off at that moment, all logic abandoning me. I was on a bike, and I hit the curb hard. As I sat on the hill out front, trying to recover from the pain, logic returned and I made the assumption that it must have been a couple of people either exploring, vandalizing, or shooting up.
