| | | Posted by brooklynboy I did a search and it didn't turn up anything. My wife and I have a pup and can't always get someone to watch her. Does anyone here take their dogs with them & do you take any extra precautions? We would leave her at home but she gets bad separation anxiety
| Being a dog owner, I personally, think its a very bad idea to take a pet along. Not only are there the obvious dangers we face, but certain particles or chemicals in the air may affect them differently than they do humans. Also, a toxic plant (apples, Babies Breath, Hemlock, etc are all very common ones where I live) could be growing around the exploration site that they might eat. POE's are another thing, many of them are dangerous to us humans and our opposable thumbs let alone a poor dog. As for the separation anxiety, he will have to get over it eventually. Honestly, with my dogs, I've found that toys and the like (especially the KONG toys you can fill up with peanut butter help distract them while you are gone and lessen the ohnoownerisgonewhatdoIdo stress they go through. Just my two cents

| | | I'm pretty sure my cats would just run the fuck away, and i'd have a hell of a time trying to track their dumbasses down. Unlike dogs, i'm sure they'd do just fine exploring, though. Agile little guys. Plus, they have 9 lives afterall. Fall into a flooded silo? Fuck it. Still got 8. I've explored with dogs before, though. Not my dogs, but they seemed to do just fine. The underground tends to be a lot less dangerous as far as derpy dogs go, as well.
