I stumbled upon this place some time ago and have been meaning to throw it out for folks for a while now. The exterior of the house is still intact and true to period, however the interior has been stripped down to only the load bearing walls for a complete renovations, how disappointing. Still some good shots to be had here. The history on the house is that a world famous sculptor lived here from 1924 to 1925 while working on carving images into Stone Mountain of Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, "Stonewall" Jackson and the Confederate army on horseback fading into the granite background of the mountain. A funding dispute with the memorial association led him to destroy all his carvings and models and leave Georgia never to return. He went on to carve a little project called Mt Rushmore after that. A wonderful addition to this location is an authentic 1925 Atlanta street car parked in the back yard. Originally meant for a restoration that never happened, now it rusts in peace.

Not much left of the interior of the street car except rotting wood and Ivey. I may need to go back and pick the bones though, might still be a few tasty bits there. Never know what you find when you look close enough.

Very true. I'm the kind of guy that buys a used car and then takes all the seats out and find cool stuff under them. Haha [last edit 11/23/2013 2:38 PM by andriestaeer - edited 1 times]
