| | | Hey everybody, first post to this community. I've been into urbex to some degree or another since grade school. Strangely I'm just now discovering some of the great online resources for this type of thing. Props to Insulinguy for pointing the way. I've been working on a project to document some of the infrastructure around the Trinity River in Dallas that I think is destined to be demolished as the city plows forward with the Trinity River Project. Of particular interest to me is the vast number of architecturally interesting bridges, tunnels, and round-a-bouts that date back to the early days of Dallas. The now-demolished Deep Ellum Tunnel is a famous example of what I'm talking about. Dallas has always been a major railroad hub and because of the massive amounts of tracks running through the city there are a lot more of these massive concrete structures than people think there are. One in particular that I think is interesting is the double tunnel that passes Corinth St under the rail lines and on towards Lamar from Riverfront (Industrial Blvd)
One funny aspect of the place is the staircase to nowhere. There are staircases on both sides of the street and on one side the take you up to the sidewalk on the same grade as the rail tracks. On the other side they go up and just end at the ceiling. Below is a picture that I shot with a broken camera (didn't know at the time. Oops.) But the effect was kind of cool in a "happy mistake" kind of way, so here you go.
