Maybe I shouldn't be using my real name...

| | | This is a pretty old story, from August 2009, but it looks pretty cool. http://www.wfaa.co...ocal/64552997.html "The repeated flooding in these areas is caused by two old creeks, Mill Creek and Peaks Branch, which were enclosed 50 to 80 years ago in underground drains. The pipes can no longer handle heavy runoff." Cool video of tunnel boring done by TxDOT, and they say this tunnel will be done the same way. Which should make the drain pretty awesome. Also, that outflow into White Rock Creek will be sweet. Looking at the map they (briefly) show, though, I keep thinking I've seen this before... anyone have linkage to an old thread, maybe?

| | | It looks like the new tunnel is supposed to drain *both* watersheds, by going below both existing drainage systems. I'd love to know more about how they will tie the systems together... and what sort of challenges it will pose. Will they include steps and gradual slopes from the existing systems down to the new tunnel (for maintenance purposes only, of course)? Or will someone be walking down a familiar subterranean passage some day and find a NYC-style "glory hole", sucking down any unwary mammals that venture too close?
