| | | Post Katrina - abandoned Medical Center < on 6/11/2010 9:56 PM >
| | | Lindy Boggs Medical Center, also called Lindy Boggs Hospital or Lindy Boggs, is a now-abandoned 187-bed acute care hospital operated by Tenet Healthcare located in Mid-City New Orleans, Louisiana. The hospital provided many services, including emergency care, critical care, and organ transplantation services. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, the hospital was at full census. Many employees' and patients' families decided to take shelter at the facility as well, thinking that they would be safer and more comfortable. When the levee system failed, however, many persons found themselves trapped in the facility with no way out. Many patients, especially those recovering from risky organ transplantation procedures, were not able to be given the medicines they needed most and, since both the power and the generators had failed, were without vital services such as mechanical ventilation and cardiac monitoring. A major evacuation effort took place, and mostly everyone was able to be rescued. (Source: http://en.wikipedi...ggs_Medical_Center)

| | | I really like your post-processing on the color photos. Do you have any photos of the exterior? I think this is the place that we saw and almost stopped by last time we were in NoLa, but ran out of time.

| | | Awesome shots, man! Like your post-processing too. I especially like the 7th pages editing. I shot here recently as well. I posted some of these in another abandoned hospital thread but I thought they would be more relevant in here.

*Also, in reference to this: http://www.uer.ca/...d=1&threadid=81204 Cool story, bro. I am a woman. Haven't been raped yet and don't plan on it happening, considering I am aware of my surroundings, know a decent amount about New Orleans areas (since I've lived here all my life), and take necessary precautions like any sensible urbexer. And I got almost identical shots in some areas. Just sayin'. [last edit 6/14/2010 3:52 PM by tiffanyarei - edited 2 times]

| | | Nice, we should meet up sometime, you could show me some more spots, I'm itching for more! P.S. When I saw that Poop Eating Mad Man thing, I laughed for about 5 minutes, I don't know why I didn't take a picture. [last edit 6/18/2010 3:45 AM by BecomeTheChange - edited 1 times]

| | | This is awesome man. I really like the picture of the calendar, being that it is historically significant to that location. I love looking for clues in abandoned buildings that I explore that give me an idea of how long the place has been empty, or why it was evacuated. Good Work.
