| | Abandoned House and Farm < on 5/4/2010 10:03 PM >
| | | The following pics are of a abandoned house outside of Fenelon Falls (first 3) and the last three are from an abandoned farm near Sebright. All these photos were taken with a Pentax K-10D using a 16-45mm lens, shot in RAW. Pics 3, 4 & 5 were modified in Adobe Lightroom... pic 3 was just a conversion to B&W... 4&5 were are also B&W, but I really dialled up some of the levels to get the grainy look to them... can't recall off the top of my head what levels I changed... ;)

| | | Number 5 really tickles my fancy. The reflection in number 6 is pretty cool too, but the photo is not straight.

| | | composition wise 3 and 4 are pretty good but there is some serious noise in the sky on 5.

| | | # 5 was done like that on purpose... I blew it out to get the sky details and to get the grainy look, which I felt worked for the photos... in the original RAW the sky was a very flat gray... didn't like it.

| | | yeah but noise is not grain, there is a big difference. Grain is enjoyed for nostalgia, while noise is reduced as it should be.

| | | Really diggin' on 5 and 6...5 seems to be missing something off to the right...but, who cares? It is a great shot nonetheless! Good job!

| | | The log cabin and reflection in number 6 stand out to me! Keep it up. Next time, I recommend trying to get more of the subjects' reflections in the water. Five feet to the right and this shot would have been incredible.

AND 5 feet back to catch all of the trees too, having the tops chopped distracts me. Aside from that, I like 3 and 5 the best. #2 has promise, but stepping back and a bit to the left to show some of the side of the house would have made the photo better. Add to that a lower vantage to make the shot more dramatic and it would have made it shine...You see the way you shot the window in #3? Doing that for the whole house would have been awesome.

That is actually a great "critique" I barely noticed that for whatever reason......the reason being I am not the most savvy photographer.......I mean "picture taker" That is something I will keep in mind when I'm shootin from now on. Thanks. And also great pics Sting. I have no knowledge to pass along, so I will just sit back and enjoy your pics instead
