| | | Has this been done before? Search yielded nothing. After driving up to my parents' for Thanksgiving, I thought this deserved a thread. So here are mine. Some of them, anyway. The ones I can think of off the top of my head. 1. People who pass you on the interstate, then slow down. 2. People who refuse to move over when you're in the left lane and are clearly going faster than they are. 3. People who, when waiting to turn left, decide to floor it as soon as the light turns green, and expect you to wait for them. 4. Tailgaters. 5. People who are in a long line of cars following one slow driver, and as soon as space opens up in the left lane, veer over to pass everyone without letting you (who were in front of them) in. 6. Jersey drivers. (Sorry, guys...)

Okay, so I see the type of parking lot you are describing, but what part of that bothers you? Isn't the parking lot designed to allow entrance and exit directly from each parking spot? Sorry, I'm not arguing that the behaviour is wrong, I am just not familiar with how it is wrong
|
I think the problem is they slow down on the main road, in the traffic lane, forcing traffic to stop - instead of pulling over into the parking-lot-lane, slowing there, and then turning in to park. 3. People who, when waiting to turn left, decide to floor it as soon as the light turns green, and expect you to wait for them. |
There is no way I'm going to wait five more minutes in traffic... I will floor it as the light is changing and cut across as far before you as I can though, so it won't slow down anyone except for those who choose a drag-race-start. People I hate A ) Handicapped old women who do 30 in a warning: slow down to 45 highway-highway ramp. B ) Oblivious men who do 40 when the handicapped old woman 2 cars up is doing 30. C ) Traffic cop who gave me a ticket for using the shoulder to get out from between them.

| So you are choosing a drag-race-start and if the person going straight chooses a drag-race-start, then there is going to be a collision, and that is your fault. I once just missed a car doing the left hand turn thing, it was rainy and cold out, the light turned green, I didn't go that fast, but I had AWD and winter tires, so my car launched easily. Since I wasn't expecting the person turning left to go, since I had the right-of-way, I almost hit him. I called the police and he got charged with careless driving. He almost got arrested for threatening me and my wife, lucky for him, he finally calmed down. He used the same excuse you did, why should he wait for other drivers, he has some right to move through the intersection ahead of me. The officer didn't agree with him.

Sometimes, when a certain someone gives me directions, he says to turn "right". And when I get in the lane to turn "right" he yells, "I SAID RIGHT, RIGHT!" What he didn't tell me was that by "right", he actually meant "left". Buahaha. This happens so often. I guess it humors me more than pisses me off, except when I'm getting screwed over by NJ traffic for switching lanes 2x.
| I have this one friend who does this on the regular basis on purpose. It started as a joke, as he'd say "turn left" and then point right, as if gesturing, when he really meant to say "turn right." It became like a game: learn which direction Dan wants me to turn. Unfortunately, I find myself in the position of taking directions from him more than I'd like to. We've gotten ourselves hopelessly lost a few times.
