Wow, that's a bizarre looking light! It seems they've been around for a while, but I'd never come across them before. Certainly a different beast to the single-emitter units we're used to.

I did a search, too, but only found speculation about the thing - no comments from anyone who actually uses one.

Three C cells is quite the niche choice for power supply, too. A friend of mine has a 3C thing with something like a P4 emitter, and it runs for a stupidly long time.

I'm usually satisfied with 90min runtime on full brightness from my lights! That's all well and good if we're talking about exploring and light painting, where one can just pop the used batteries on charge afterwards, but when camping is on the cards, suddenly all those fancy lights of mine that eat batteries seem a bit useless.

I'll be on the beach for a few days this weekend. Just me, some friends and family, and a stack of 18650 and 16340 batteries

(and some AAs)

So, back on topic, are you contemplating getting one of those things?

Well as soon as I get the money I think I will be in for a FL12RX and the FL6-FOG head. The FOG head isn't really a necessity but to turn this light into a multi-use lego light for an extra $25 I think its worth it. But yea as soon as I get a new job that is on my list. Maybe even before the 4sevens MC-E. I dont normally buy lights that I dont think would get much use but this light is something I would like to buy just because I want it. The only time I could see myself using it is camping and around the house. I would use it as a truck light but its not compatible with lithium C-Cells and I hate letting Alky's sit for very long =(

So are you camping on the beach? That sounds awesome! Ive only ever camped on one beach and that is a random beach out in the woods beside a river! Heres a panoramic pic of Falls Hole last time I was there

Yeah, hiring a four-wheel-drive and camping on the beach - should be fun despite the forecast rain

I'm very curious to see what the 4Sevens MC-E light turns out to be, too. Hmm, haven't checked CPF in a few days, better go look...

And tell me you didnt miss out on the TITANIUM XP-G Quark run!?!?!?

Heres the link in the marketplace for the Tactical MC-E Multimode from 4sevens you might have to read through the whole thing to get the idea though =)

Yeah, I've been following that thread with great interest and waiting for the official announcement. Only thing is, do I want the plain white or the coloured one?!

I was tempted by the titanium xp-g run, but I resisted the urge. Those guys have really hit the ground running, and I do very much like my little Quark.

As for the beach camping, it's a designated stretch of beach on an island, with various permits required, and various regulations around whats and hows and wheres to keep the place from being harmed.

Those look pretty neat - although the latching mechanism frightens me. Multi-month runtimes? Yeesh... I might have to build one of these.

Ah ha

I think every light, ever made, is on CPF. It's like a version of Rule 34. If it emits light, it's there.

Well Meta I think we all know the answer to the age old question of which one to buy... get both! For me I would probably just get the white. But since Ive noticed your into the whole light painting thing you might benefit from the MC-E color?

And if you think you were tempted in the Ti XP-G run check the thread now, THERE'S PICS!!! 4Sevens really is out there for the flashaholics and judging from the CPF feedback I think they are doing a wonderful job. My Ti 123*2 XP-G will be my first 4sevens light.

AnAppleSnail Thanks for the link. I didn't really do an in depth search the first time. The latch does scare me in terms of reliability/durability but you have to think that if a company designs something that... out there, they have probably also done their homework on how durable it will be. And still ive seen where a few people said they were purchasing one but no-one ever followed up with an update of how much they did or didnt like it? Plus out of ALL those threads I dont think a single one made it to more than 5-10 post's? Also did you see the thread where LumaRay sent Data their Orange see through prototype!? That thing looks crazy!

It'll be interesting to see what sort of user interface they put on the MC-E lights. I love the UI on the tactical quarks - if these were around a year or two ago, I'd never have gone for the JetBeams at all.

I'd still like to have an 18650-capable body for the quark, though...

The 18650 has GOT to be in the works? Everybody is requesting one and 4sevens always listens to their customers? it sure has taken them a long time to get one out there though. I dont have any Jetbeams as of yet but I almost bought a JetIIIM but ended up with an O-Light M20. Then I almost bought an M1X and/or a raptor but I decided I wouldnt get much use out of it and instead purchased my XTAR Howitzer =)

Its also funny to think that ive only been in this "hobby" for a little less than a year and I've already managed to break an M20 Premium, Ra Clicky Tactical, and Novatac 120T. But I dont give any of my lights a break.

If there's one thing I don't like so much about the 4Sevens lights, it's that they look like Fenixes, and I'd rather they looked more like JetBeams Just a colour other than black would help.

I almost bought a Jet III M recently to replace the Jet III Pro IBS I lost, but I can't help but think that something will replace it soon (and besides, I still have a Jet III Pro ST). Then again, maybe the Raptor RRT-2 is the replacement.

I agree, though, there's got to be an 18650 version on the way - it seems odd that they haven't just provided a Quark body tube option for it already.

Hey, 4Sevens posted today that they have their AAA light prototypes under way

Also, I edited the thread title to make it a little easier to find stuff.

Yea i would wait for Jetbeam to make an XP-G light. Im not too fond of the new Raptor (small head) From what I understand they were having some issues with it in the first 2 batches.

And my one complaint about 4sevens lights is that they stick so damn far out of your pocket! They need a deep carry clip! And thanks for changing the title!

I suspect these specials are used to see how strong his market share is among groups ;)

Ethics: Do I post that 10% to CPF?

Nah I wouldnt post it there. 10% isnt THAT much more than 8% plus that would be a little un-ethical like ya said lol.
