| You can all rest assured that City Works all the way up to the Mayor's office have checked this site, and this thread, on numerous occasions. Before the thread got legs of it's own, we were generally free to roam around undisturbed. Sadly, many of the locations we investigated have been sealed permanently.

| Sure...go for it. But just to be clear, KublaKhan does not in any way endorse any such measure/method. Skill, cunning, careful planning, utilization of available resources, team work. These have never let me down.

| | | So, under a gleaming moonlight, SourDiesel and Ninjaklutz set foot under Victoria once again to investigate the exact endpoints of some very large storm drains that are also very close to each other. I am referring to the Dallas system, the "Cook Street Chasm", and the drain that drains into the inner harbour. Do these drains all link up to each other, as one map suggested? Well, we got some surprising answers. This is what we have concluded: the Cook Street Chasm (the longest drain under cook, which SD and I recently posted about) does indeed connect to the tunnel drain that drains into the inner harbour. Then, separated by probably mere feet of rock, is another large drain. We did not expect to find this drain!! Interestingly enough, this turned out to be the drain that JP and Amadeus had first labelled the "Cook Street Chasm". At the top of the well-known staircase phtographed by JP (which is actually only 3/4 the height of two others in the Cook Street Chasm i previously mentioned), the tunnel is blocked off by concrete. JP, PLEASE tell me that this was always like this, that the concrete isn't new. And then, quite literally a stone's throw south, separated by the concrete, is the regal and mighty Dallas System. So....4 tunnels. 2 connect. The other 2 are close enough that they theoretically could be useful for prohibition rumrunners, or pirates hauling booty. In addition to this, regarding the longer cook street drain: similar to Cecelia Creek, it is actually a double drain. It has a crawlable RCP connector, which crosses the road, and on the other side of the road lies a crawlable RCP. The "Cook Street Chasm", the one that was featured in one of JP and Tanuki's old posts: (and yes, we BOTH accidentally slid down that slide! klutzy!) These are photos of the drain that drains into the inner harbour. So what's wrong with this picture??? Let me put it this way.....as SD and I were marvelling at the walkability and civility of this RCP masterpiece, i suddenly found my sneakers ankle deep in shit. Now, last time i encountered sewage was in the Cecelia drain, where there was CSSO (Combined sanitary sewer overflow) mixed in with the creekwater, and i had waded waist deep through it; it wasn't that bad. THIS, however was not CSSO. It was practically a thick brown creek of people's shit. It was RANK. Hey, city hall....guess where this was? A: Near the end of the drain that outflows into the inner harbour.....that means that there is a 24/7 flow of shit continuously releaseing unscreened sewage directly beneath the Causeway, Visitor Center, and busker areas. NOT good for the sheltered slow tidal flushing harbour, either!! Did it gross me out? Not in the least. If i'd had boots, i would have probably gone on. But should it be of concern? Yes. Due to the location and fecal concentration of this sewage dumping, I think the Underground Services should be quite concerned. I am going to make sure that they find out about this. Especially when you consider the building that i believe is dumping it all..... Anyaways, a pleasure to explore with you, SD. Thank you for patiently helping figure out what exactly lies under this part of town. It felt like we were in some subterranean junglegym or puzzle! Good fun! And SteamPunk: i want to buy your moonshine. Deliver it to me via the sewers; i'll contact the local dockworkers.....

| Indeed. TL was right...there were pirates, and there were plenty of them. (Yar!) i suddenly found my sneakers ankle deep in shit.
| Yep. Human shit. Loads of it flowing into our lovely harbour. And thank God for it, too, otherwise what would Mr. Floaty do for work? Oh...and you'd be wise to avoid Steampunk's shine. Unless blindness and/or insanity is something to which you aspire.
