| | Found a place in Richmond, Virgina < on 6/30/2009 3:57 PM >
| | | I'm new at this whole...thing but have searched a lot of places. Here is one of them...got a tip from a friend. The entire building is fenced off...but there are numerous spots where the fence is peeled back. so you can simply crawl under. It was an old bakery...its 5 stories at some point..and you can get an incredible view from the roof. Hope you enjoy! Elevator Controls on a very odd colored wall
This is one of a few elevators...it was huge!
Once we had crawled through the gate..this is what greeted us.
This was the 1st floor. There was a fire and it smelled terrible.
Access point to the roof.
A pretty rad mural.
Water Tower on the roof.
Sink. In the absolute pitch dark basement.
Creepy doors...that opened to a very small eerie room.
Hope you enjoy!

| | | They used to make Girl Scout Cookies there. Did you find any boxes in the packing area?
There is no problem that cannot be solved by the suitable application of explosives. |

| | | I don't like the graffiti picture, kinda kills the nostalgic feeling. Did you at least climb the water tower while you were there.
Well...... crap........ |

You'll find that us UER people have very mixed feelings about graffiti. Some love it, some hate it, some, like me, change their mind every day...
If that is the partially active Interbake Foods, where we tried to get in at MAMU and "the kazaks" set off the alarm and we got followed by the cops, I'm gonna flip out! lol Is it? Anyone know?

its all inactive now...we explored the entire building...and there is no sign of life. A room or two with a homeless person's belongings...but other than that absolutely nothing.

Holy crap!!! I have to come back to Richmond ASAP. That place looked cool as hell. Every time I take the Greyhound somewhere and have a layover in Richmond, I'm tempted to run out of the Greyhound station and over to that building...next time I WILL! Last time we tried to get in there and almost got caught, it was scary as fuck. Leaving there after the cops showed up, I was riding with uLiveYouBurn, and there was a cop very clearly following us, but he didn't have his flashing lights on. uLiveYouBurn made a few crazy turns and evaded them. I was half expecting that to turn into a high-speed chase! lol I'm sure he wouldn't have really done that though... (maybe?)

If I remember correctly, you got a text from one of us outside saying "cops" and then the kazaks (I'm sorry, I can't remember their real names or UER names) promptly panicked and started frantickly speaking Russian to each other! lol I will never forget MAMU. These adventures are why you all shouldn't miss MAMU II!!! (shameless plug #4357783)

| | | Hell if I know...Me and the two monkeys got in through a tiny window. We were looking for a door to open without tripping a alarm and I got a text saying cops...I think a large group attracted some attention from the museum cameras.

| | | Cool pics! I've ridden by there many times and always wondered what it looked like on the inside. Sounds like somebody spotted you though - that's a pretty busy area.

| | | I was in there the other day. The building is pretty empty, though a small part of the first floor seems to be used for some museum storage (nothing particularly interesting). The place is pretty much wide open for access -- there are several exterior doors that are open, there is no power and therefore no cameras or alarms, and there are several points for roof access on several different levels. However, up on the roof you're pretty easy to spot from below, and as someone pointed out, it's a pretty busy area. It's worth checking out, just for its size, if nothing else.

| | | A good portion of the first floor is (was?) storage for the museum next door. There are active cameras monitoring the big bay doors on both the East and West sides. I'd still be very careful.

| | | The stuff I saw in there definitely didn't come from the museum. It looked like stuff that didn't sell at the auction that was held after the building closed.
