| | Niles Canyon Railyard < on 6/9/2009 1:37 AM >
| | | So i know this isn't quite urban, but I was at Niles canyon rail yard today with some people and luckily we actually met one of the workers there and he gave us a tour of the cars trains and let us into a few of the restoration projects.

| | | Did they make you sign an injury liability release waiver? The two times I went, they didn't make people sign anything, but lately with more people visiting (and it's perfectly allowed to visit during open hours), I heard they started to make people sign a waiver in case you twist an ankle or whatever when walking around the place. I recognize some of those cars from when I visited. Honestly, though, I think your fisheye lens is taking away from the beauty of those machines. Just my opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, though...right?.

they do make you sign, and there were no more when we went but the guy was cool enough to over look the fact. I didn't bother taking the fisheye off for the exterior pics, i should have, but i didn't, however the interiors are pretty hard to get a good shot of without having an super wide angle or fisheye.

bleh! zeppelinNT that flies around the bay is not a true zeppelin its semi-rigid design and the interior is complete hogwash no nostalgia. I had been tempted to take a ride in it though but the owner is actually over charging as he is struggling to pay the maintainence and finance. I ment a zeppelin as in the full rigid airships of the 30's such as the Graf or Hindenburg, these had elegance and class. >,<

| | | Love it! I practically grew up in Niles. Next trip up I'm going to try to get some pics of the "Secret sidewalk" and some shots of the water tower area at the end of the canyon.
Leaving it as I found it since 1987. |

Best of luck to ya' on that. I'd LOVE to take a cruise on a true airship, but nothing like that exists anymore, ANYWHERE.

RG, i cant remember what the website was, the guy that showed us the cars gave told me but i had nothing to write the info down on. But if you go to the website for niles railway and contact them, asking when the next event is they will let you know, just ask for the next photo op or night shoot. http://www.ncry.org/
and to RockinBus I know they dont exist anymore hence in the OP i said "i wish" [last edit 6/20/2009 7:12 PM by ka0sx - edited 1 times]
