Bryguy has been all over that place in everything. Its kind of funny theres a sign telling people not to pass. When i go up there with the offroad clubs, theres a million people exploring that whole area.

| | | I haven't been to Calico's mines, but that warning sign seems to be an open invitation for seat of your pants fun!

| | | yea, I would be the one that's been out that way. that sign is off to the west of the town, and not in the actual OHV area. havn't gotten around to snooping around behind the sign (since I'm lazy) though. is that an actual mine in the last pic? or just the stone arches that're off the trail? definitely a bunch of cool stuff back there to poke around in though. just don't go anywhere near anything with gray colored dirt... I don't have many pictures of actually being in a mine though. ran out of batteries [last edit 6/16/2009 6:21 AM by bryguy17 - edited 1 times]

They're just the stone arches off the trail through Odessa Canyon. I second Shockwave's question, why should one avoid the grey colored dirt? [last edit 6/16/2009 6:53 PM by snordhol - edited 1 times]

talc mines. that should tell you enough... those are all out if you're heading towards the open desert. the stuff back in the canyons are all hard-rock and are generally fairly stable from what I've seen. just gotta keep a lung out for bad air, since some of those get deep. the mine I've got a picture of is pretty well vented though.
