and before that ogilvie was lake of the woods, the flouer mill in montreal until the mid 90s was still called ogilvie flour though, not on this sign but on thier front office

also montreal light heat and power owned a gasworks, speaking of mlhp i saw a house in the point whose electrical service was so old the meter was from MLHP!

Actually that dam was one of my first exploring sites. It was very dangerous crossing to the island - you had to walk along girders between the concrete walls then climb over a metal frame at the end, wouldn't be a great challenge for grown up UE'ers today , but it was something. Knew a guy that drowned there, was about 13. Today it is a relative tourist thing, but you can still get close to some very powerful rushing water.

the dam is technically still there and the 3 turbine races allow water to flow through, they did blast a hole in the dyke in the 60s
