A few things : You can see the old custom house that was demolished 2 or 3 years ago. Also, if I'm not mistaken, we can see the pillars of Jacques-Cartier Bridge being built!!!

nel is so easy to please, eh? And maZe continues to mix up her customs buildings :-) Yeah, the building just left of the big grain elevator was the port police HQ until it was torn down a few years back. A very unique and unstable building it was too. PM me if you want to see some pics.

I remember being inside of it in 1996 when I was manager of SOS Labyrinthe in the old port, I didn't visit the whole place but I thought it was an okay old building... Structure was unstable? I wish they'd save this building though. It looked nice. And yeah, I guess I missed the custom/port police class. Sorry for that. :(

it was incredibly crooked, some windows were broken out of crookedness, it would have made a great fish restaurant, the slanty shanty

CNR became CNR in 1921 or 1923? So that would be the old Grand Trunk grain elevator, maybe?

it s really hard to believe today but there used to be a 3 mile gap at the port for GTR/CNR. The government controlled tracks down there were way too expensive so a GTR/CNR train that wanted to go from Point Saint Charles to the east end of Montreal had to take a 110 mile detour (like up north of Laval and down). Sure it was all political but it happened ! CPR cleaned up big time as a result having a near monopoly on rail shipping from the rapidly expanding industrial areas of the east end of Montreal.
