Description
This is the "Gas Turbine" hall. The self contained generators here run on heavy fuel oil. It is basically the power station of the power station. If all else fails, the 4 units can supply up to 25Mw of power each. That is enough to enable Didcot A to start up from scratch.

My guide told me that 3 steeplejacks were killed when they fell down the flue of the GT stack whilst performing maintenance some years ago. The wind blowing over the stack makes a horrible screaming/wailing noise at times, which has caused the GT hall to be one of the more undesirable places to work alone. And the chances are that you WILL be working alone in there, unless serious overhauls are going on…
