I remember when we took an old one and unravelled it... Virtually every street where a bus route ended was on it. I guess it became impractical when we got over 100 routes! Sadly my parents made me toos it. Damn them! Later they added all the transitway stations. Now most of the buses have the digital signs that still use the system of what general area they are going to, except now they will include a small "via xxxx street" underneath. In the 80's when they still ran buses from the 60's with only 2 digits for the route numbers, they omitted the first digit which often confused people. The driver had to manually set the numbers at the side and rear of the bus also. Since these buses were normally used on the 2 digit rush hour express routes, it wasn't a big problem.
