that's not a Chevy V8. look where the distributor hole is... Chevrolets have the distributor in the back of the block. Fords are most usually in the front. Pontiacs and Olds V8's had the distributor in the front on some of their engines. The frame this engine is sitting in looks like a GM frame, the wat the control arms are mounted to it, but the transmission just doesn't stirke me as looking like a hydromatic... eh... i could be wrong.

i wish you'd brushed the leaves out of the valley so i could see the galleys... this is bothering me.. the waterpump looks like a small block chevy... but without seeing inside the valley... gasp! you have any other pics of this engine? if the cylinder heads were still on it, that would make id easy... they have a big GM stamped on them... maybe this is a Chevy v8 after all... i'm an idiot.

It's a Chevy V8. Those water passages in the block are Chevy. I can't tell what displacement it is. The tranny is definitely not Hydramatic. Older Powerglide maybe?

the torque converter housing is too small to be a th350 or 400... probably a powerglide.
