Nice. I still think it's amazing how fast some places go down, though. 1996? Some of these pictures look more like empty since 1976.

Seems like a sort of fire escape for getting off of the upper balcony if other exits are blocked.

a lot of people don't realize the greatest damage to a structure is to be uninhabited, they deteriorate in a very short time span

I wondered why for a long time, but I think it's because noone bothers to heat or cool the place anymore. A building that is normally around 72 degrees inside is now getting as cold or hot as it is outside. That and noone is doing any maintenance.
