a lot of people don't realize the greatest damage to a structure is to be uninhabited, they deteriorate in a very short time span

I wondered why for a long time, but I think it's because noone bothers to heat or cool the place anymore. A building that is normally around 72 degrees inside is now getting as cold or hot as it is outside. That and noone is doing any maintenance.
