A two-alarm fire at this factory took three hours and 19 firemen to put out. The Niagara Falls municipal firemen were assisted by members of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Base Fire Department, who had to drive five miles to get there. The Niagara Falls Air Reserve Base Fire Department is specially trained and equipped to handle hazardous material fires such as those involving radioactive or toxic chemical materials; regular fire departments are not. Several years ago a ground fire broke out in the same area and roads were shut down for more than a square mile. Traffic was backed up and rerouted and generally frustrated while members of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Base Fire Department fought the fire wearing white protective suits. They were called to the fire because it is know that the neighborhood is a dump ground for toxic chemicals. The industries there have produced dangerous radioactive and chemical wastes dating at least as far back as the Manhattan Project.

I've inadvertently marked this location as being demolished. I heard wrong. After talking to so more local people, this location is still standing. The part that was demolished was the underground parking lot outside. This locations is listed as a hazardous waste site and the government would like to get rid of it, however money for that has run out and the underground parking lot was more dangerous (environmentally) than the building.
