Dude. Dont sweat it.

Its not a Felony so you dont have anything to worry about.

I bet they drop it to a simple trespassing or dis orderly conduct.

The charges they give you rarely stick as they are.

You might get a fine and maybe community service.

Its not a big deal. Just dont get caught again.

Just as a percentage of people like Luna write-off most cops as being bad, there is a similar percentage of cops who will have the same stupid, broad opinion on people in their mid to late teens.
/-/oolie

Actually, I don't write off most cops as bad. I said "some." Some are good, some are bad, etc. The ones who are bad though, really get me worked up, as they make the good cops out there look bad. It's a hard, thankless job, and someone has to do it. Shitty cops make it bad for everyone.

I will stand by my opinion that Lakewood and Arvada PD are a fistful of assholes. I don't think they're bad/crooked cops. They've just got an awful attitude - they're "assholes." Weirdly enough, I like Denver PD. I think they've got a better attitude in general.

Cops make me uncomfortable, even though they seem to really like me. But I don't immediately assume they're bad.

So, /-/oolie, I hope that helps clarify my "broad stupid opinion" on cops. ;)

Casual mysterious.

(a.k.a. getting caught during the DNC >_<) you might have a chance that way.

Hahaha, I found some guys creditials on the ground and snuck on the bus going to Obama's speech. Just as the bus was taking off, I majorily pussied out and wanted off. I still think to this day that was my major folly, but nothing really bad occurred from that, I got in more trouble with the FBI by putting up fake swine flu posters before any cases were detected in Colorado. And by get in trouble, I mean the FBI were consulted and I had to take therapy. Incase you were wondering, therapy went like this "something something swine flu is as bad as microwaving small children something something"

Wow this is a major bummer, and it freaks me out. I think someone compared this to trespassing inside someones house and they argued someone probably went through trouble to take care of that place and pay for property, but besides the pay for property bit that place is a dilapidated mess. I thought it was really neat, but in all honesty it's probably the most boring place. I mean, theres only so much to an abandoned department store. There were diseased pigeons living off debris and stagnant rain water that flooded the damn place. Animal rights activists and dirty hippies alike would have been appalled. For the longest time I didn't think it was live either, but the friggen electrical room was making really loud buzzing noises, and it was lolflooded. Although health risk wise, I would say just the electrical room posed a risk, and the ceiling collapsing, and if you were just retarded and a pigeon living off debris. I'm really surprised the police actually raided you.

I don't think you can find your traditional completely-not-even-owned establishment in this country. It's all owned by some realtor or something. A general good rule of thumb is, if there is a fence or a locked door, it's probably an agent of the conspiracy and you should run screaming. Unless you're manly, then you should disregard everything like for instance rules and be cool like us.

Like the majority of the people here I presume, I've been charged with trespassing, a few years ago. Unlike most people here, I wasn't charged in your typical abandoned location, but in a friggen public school for attending it and failing to leave promptly! Penalty wise, even though it was my second offense in the juvenile court I got diversion (similar to probation) and had to shelf womens jeans for 12 fucking hours straight with one 5 minute break. My other friend had to attend class on abusing women, because they honestly couldn't think of any punishment actually related to trespassing. Apparently it was a really shitty class "women should be treated equally because they are inferior" or something along those lines.

You're juveniles right? So even if you do end up convicted, it'll go onto a sealed record that will be wiped once you turn 18. You don't even have to tell universities or jobs.

Right, I believe this program is refereed to as Diversion. I heard something about having to manually erase the data or ask to get it removed, but it hasn't effected me yet. I think legally you're still supposed to mention this incident on job applications and such, but I haven't and things have been gravy for me.

Oh they don't actually give this option to everyone, or at least they say they don't, and they never do it twice except in special circumstances. I think trespassing is kind of a more rarer case they get, the juvenile court is roughly 90% shoplifting candy bars followed by drug abuse and probably assault or something violence related I dunno. I'm confident that it's mostly just kids who were unlucky enough to get caught shoplifting 99¢ candy bars. Being of the chosen race will also help your case, because again it's all mexicans and black people who generally tend to be dumb as hell.

well, i went to court, they dropped the charges of defacing property, and i got diversion on my trespassing charge, and now i have a clean record. it pays off to know what you are doing in court (the judge actually singled me out afterwards to tell me how polite and respectful i was, and that i should set a better example for my friends). so it all turned out okay, and as a bonus of good luck, i got my camera card back

i have to completely agree, even though my grandparents are part of the police force in Lakewood, i still hate the cops around here more than anything. what i find funny about the police in Lakewood, is that their licence plates end in "EGO".

At least you didnt get charged with anything. but that still sucks I would be pissed

52 hours of combined public service is going to take a while to work off..Usually I don't work more than 40 in a week and you better believe they are gonna give you like 8-12 hours a week. At least that's my experience was like

I live by that place it is covered in alarms because it's not technically abandoned. It is up for lease right now so it is still an owned property, I thought about it about 2 years ago but scoped it out really well and there are too many newer wires around the outside running inside for it to be exploreable. Lots of people have tried but a lot have gotten ticketed.

i always have a 256mb SD memory card with me in my camera bag. it has about 10 generic photos of walls, flowers, a fence, etc.. all things that could be taken at basically any location from a safe distance.. if i feel theres a threat then i switch the 2gig out of my camera, drop it in my sock or something, and put the dummy card in my camera..

and it has worked with a random construction worker who started off sounding really pissed off, then he just gave me a strange look of confusion and stumbled away..

Switching memory cards is gold.

well, heres my essay if you want to read it, i tried to make it seem like i would never explore again, even though i plan to continue when i get off my 6 months of probation

Throughout my life, I have always been fascinated with old, abandoned, and dilapidated buildings. Only recently I have started wanting to explore these structures. I have no need to vandalize, only to explore, and photograph these forgotten and unseen places. My main philosophy behind all of my exploring is take only pictures, and leave only footprints. But since I have been punished for doing what I love, I am never to explore again. I have learned from my recent arrest that it is not worth it to express myself through photography of abandoned structures. I love to take pictures of different things, because in old, rotten, buildings, you can find beauty, and not many individuals know that, and that’s why I want to show it to the world through my pictures. That’s the reason why I do what I do. I like to show people the forgotten parts of life, even at the risk of my own. Even though I will end my photography of abandoned buildings I have decided that I will continue my photography in other fields, which involve no breaking and entering and no trespassing. Since it is ok to photograph the outside of abandoned structures, I may do that as well as different forms of photography, such as urban photography, and night photography. But I realize now that these buildings still belong to people, and just like how my house belongs to me, I wouldn’t want some random stranger going through it without my permission, even if they were a creative individual, who’s only intention is to be an artist who is capable of looking at the world in a different way. There is no excuse for entering someone’s property illegally, even if you are the best photographer in the world. It’s still wrong, no matter what.
Trespassing on someone’s property could be going inside their house, being in their yard, on their roof, inside of a building or business that they own, or even in a large field that doesn’t even have to be at their residence. The only time that you should ever enter someone’s property, is if you have the owner’s permission first. Otherwise it would be trespassing and the owners can press charges against you. Because even if you have no means of vandalism or theft of that persons personal property, they could believe that that is what you are there to do, and that’s why it is illegal to trespass.
I have realized from this whole experience, that there is a good reason why trespassing is illegal, as well as how severe it is. I realize now how it would be if someone were to come on to your property without your permission. It’s scary to think of what they could be trying to do, and why they are there. You don’t know if they are burglars or vandals or what, but even if they mean no harm, you still wouldn’t want them on your property looking at or touching your possessions. The punishments for trespassing are a lot more severe than most people think, but if you were to catch someone on your property without your permission, then you would want them to be punished. I have realized how the owner of the old target building feels, and I realize what I have done is wrong, and I shall never again repeat my actions on that day that I was arrested.
