I've walked on Morton Ave in Chester, PA late at night to go to Sun Ship, and hung at a dive bar that used to be there to "warm up" for work. This was long before it was "cleaned up". I wasn't messed with... nor did I have problems at Sun Ship, at least not after the forward prop room incident. I didn't give a fuck.

Try some of the streets of Port Elizabeth at night, or sections of the bronx, etc.
You shouldn't even drive there at night, and if you do, you better not stop at stop signs and red lights... bullets don't care where they go once they leave the muzzle.

Things are a bit safer since 911, but don't count on it if you don't have common sense.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

chester is not exactly a nice area. 3 out of the past 4 trips to philly, I have seen big fires from the highway in chester.

Interesting ideas...I've done all the scouting I need to (used to work in the area) I agree with the driving around like you know you belong. It works 10x better. People won't fuck with you if you look like you belong there. Probably going to go around dawn, leave site during morning hours...should be fun

Wrong. Learning from people more experienced than you helps you get better. To not ask is to revel in asininity...

The dead just rot.
If you lack the common sense to smell your own death, you'll be slipping to hell on your own blood.
Some people don't sleep... and they tend to be very irritable.

Better run through the jungle...

Whoa, thought it was a nightmare,
Lo, it's all so true,
They told me, "Don't go walking slow
'Cause Devil's on the loose."

Thought I heard a rumbling
Calling to my name,
Two hundred million guns are loaded
Satan cries, "Take aim!"

Over on the mountain
Thunder magic spoke,
"Let the people know my wisdom,
Fill the land with smoke."

Better run through the jungle,
Woa, Don't look back to see

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Im sorry, but once a year shootings are nothing remotely close to ghetto. In Rochester, we have one of the highest murder- per- capita rates in the US. A murder or shooting once a day is considered slow. My van had been broken into 3 times in the 5 years I had it. If you leave a GPS in plain view, it will get stolen anywhere. I'm not trying to play "Ghettoer than thou," or put you down, but try to man up a bit.

It is definitely a shame that people feel the need to live up to stereotypes, and make it known that they feel they are owed something by the rest of society.

Just keep moving and you will be fine, but as someone else said, if you go alone, you are more likely to get harassed.

I knew I was going to take some shit for that. Like I said in the latter half of my post, I'm not playing more ghetto than though, nor was I acting "like im owed something." Rochester is actually a very nice city with a high concentration of artists, musicians and other creative elements. unfortunately, there are a lot of really retarded people who have to act like you are trying to offend them when you are just walking down the street, and shoot at you for it. Much like the two people who posted before this........ And to assume that by being a former resident of Rochester that I am a rapist, well thank you devdog, you fit your description very well.

When you get into the Avenues-A,B,C,D It gets very rough. Saxton, Jay, Mt. Read blvd, Lyell ave (where sykes/ delco is located) are all very bad areas as well. I was the foreman on a trial jury where a young man was gunned down in a gang- related murder/ assault involving an AK-47. RIT is technically not anywhere near the true ghettos, although about 50% of Rochester is pretty bad. I lived in one of the outer villages, so I grew up without having to hear too many gunshots, although someone was murdered right across the street one year when I was 11.

When I was doing my student teaching, I worked in a Tech school in the inner city. It was very inspirational and wonderful working with the students there. They are such good kids, but the streets can turn people bad quickly which is heartbreaking, especially when someone you taught doesnt come back to school ever again.

But to answer your question, Rochester is located in the rustbelt, but the main industries are Kodak (cameras and decreasingly- film) and Xerox (copiers). I would say that it is a good mix of ghetto and rust.

Again, im not the offensive type, so I'm sorry if anyone was offended, but there is not a ghetto in every city. One murder shouldn't keep people from enjoying UE. My 2 cents.

I doesnt. I would kill to live in anywhere in Boston. Ghetto in Boston is street with more than one duck boat on it.

I dunno... I lived in Mission Hill some years back (~8), and while it was on an upswing / wasn't near as bad as it had been before, we had:
- the "crack park".
- crackheads in the laundry room
- my super was arrested in a murder-for-hire plot
- my neighbors had their throats cut
- numerous muggings/jumpings/beatdowns
- the pimp next door
- the pregnant crackhead who was married/somehow tied to both said super and said pimp.

...off the top of my head.

However, you're not entirely wrong, as the shitty areas of Boston are becoming fewer and farther between...

or wear the wrong color bandanna, or try to catch someone else's speeding bullet(s). Some of these people will do what they have to to get a 20 too.
A Rebel is easily good for that.

Some black gang bangers deliberately target white girls. Not my words either but those of a LA news anchor I spoke concerning this murder over two years ago. http://media.www.t...ilty-3110965.shtml
http://www.scpr.or...a_gangs_02010.html

The list goes on, and it includes the cops who don't like white boys trying to buy dope and getting killed on their beat.

Really all you have to do is be there, the rest is automatic.

Been in some of those kinda neighborhoods. Once in the wrong looking part of Chicago with my rollback and a stolen Cadillac I was returning. A few unsavory-types circled the truck no less than 6 times eyeballing the goods. Every pass they had another man or two. Ended up with just shy of a dozen before I pulled out and found a better place to park. If I had waved a gun, they probably woulda took my honkey ass. But I had a Mr. Brown because home was the other direction from the shop when I left and he likes the road. They weren't gonna fuck with that dog. Crackers wit guns, no problem. That's a big fuckin German Sheppard. SOmetimes you just gotta read the signs, sometimes it just don't matter, when your time is uip, you're goin. But if you don't call attention to yourself and don't fuck with people, why should they fuck with you. An airplane could fall on your house. You gotta figure it out. But bringing a weapon is stupid if you don't know how to use it or are not willing to use it when the time comes, you may get it taken away from you. ANd believe it or not some people grow up there, they might not always like it being called the ghetto. But yeah some people shit their pants when they see a Mr. Brown. And most others just don't want to find out if he's a trained assisan or a ball fetching dumbass.

I drink gasoline for breakfeast and beer for dinner!

what sucks about exploring the worst ghettos is that you don't know which buildings are abandoned, and which aren't.
