Wow, that is just amazing. Do you have any info on the site? I'm pretty curious as to how a castle like that with a large metal dragon came to be.

The guy who's building it has been working on it since the 60's. He's done it all by hand and alone (from what I've heard and what the signs say). He's currently building the moat!

Just wow! My boyfriend and I were looking at this together and think it's spectacular! Looks like it was done by an outsider artist. Is this the case? Any more information or links you have would be appreciated.

anyone who can check it out should do so, it is really an amazing bit of work. And the free part is nice.

You used to be able to go to the castle at all times of the day, there were even raves there, but then a wedding party got out of controll and Jim Bishop chased them off with a shotgun. Jim is a hoot to talk to, but he is a serious nutjob, He no longer lets folks in the castle at night, he has numerous cameras on site and he likes his right to bare arms, and will come after you with a gun. It is a better idea to go in the day, its free and you might be lucky enough to hear Jim talk politics, just dont take it personally when he starts to scream at you, he will most likely calm down... Go and see it, but do so during the day.

The last time I was there, about 13 years ago, it wasn't anywhere near this finished and it was pretty awesome then. Thanks for the pics. I've often wondered if this ever got finished or the guy just abandoned the whole idea or what happened. Kinda surprised he is still alive and working on it. I think the reason for the dragon is that Bishop said, "That if Walt Disney could have a dragon on his castle, then so could he."

I figured out what's wrong with life:
It's other people.

It's an easy place to get to (if you don't mind driving a little out of the way)
I'm planning on making a day trip to the castle some time here in a month or so. If anyone wants to tag along let me know.

I don't really plan trips - I more or less go on a whim because I have nothing to do for the day. But I could pre plan a little and I'll definately let you know, I probably have a friend who'd be up for a road trip too. I have to go to Marble first since I've been putting that off for a while though.
