Blackhawk really isnt that great anymore. If you want some good gloves check out hitachi(SP) and other brands. Blackhawk caters more to civilian security, rednecks, and airsofters these days. Alot of the shooters hate their gloves because they havent been as durable anymore. Just check around they still have some decnet products but not alot.

My buddy has some Solags and they are nice as hell.. he also got them a year or two ago.. they just changed the design of the gloves.. I am not sure to what.. but I was rather annoyed that I couldn't get them when I went to buy them, I hope that when I get them they are as nice as thier older ones

Wow.
You were not kidding.
I have been out of the 'hands-on' side of things since I got home from Iraq and wow - their gear sucks.
I agree, it's geared to wanna-be's and gamers.

Cycling gloves are ok for dexterity but I have found that baseball gloves are the best for both fit and durability. You can find them with leather as well as rubber padded fingertips, many sizes to choose from, they breath well but help insulate your hands for harsh weather and if you make your choice wisely they provide a good degree of protection from hazards. They are relatively inexpensive too so you can buy several pairs (do this when you find the right features you want) for when one pair gets trashed or worn out.

Most of us probably deal with a lot of fences, I know I do. There may be other gloves that provide better protection but when it comes to a well suited, all around hand covering for any exploration baseball gloves get my vote every time.

On a side note you are one of the few people that has the least chance to get chemicals soaked into your gloves and end up with multi exposure to chemicals.

I always wear these...they are great. I even wear them over my winter gloves. $10 for a box of 100 pairs, can't go wrong.

As mentioned before, if you want an inexpensive but decent pair of gloves, head to Home Depot and pickup some Mechanix gloves or one of the newer ones they have out now (I think it's the "subcontractor" series that fits/works well, my buddy just bought a pair). They're only $15 and hold up pretty well, been using mine for about a year with no complaints. I mean they're not gonna stop a nail, but I've found they do make a world of difference. Best of luck.

+ 1 on the Mechanix gloves. for $24 they offer good grip, finger and palm protection and padding while still maintaining finger dexterity. the new models have a rubberized exoskeleton. mine live in my pack.

Gloves suck, period. I like to feel the rust and scale on my hands. Plus gloves wear out, my hands do not. And who wants to crack a beer in the sewer and not get the full bodied taste of snotsticles from their hands? I put them right up there with respirators of things that just take up room in the bag and displace preciuous can space.

I drink gasoline for breakfeast and beer for dinner!

Ever have a bottle break because some shitbird was rough with the beer bag? That violates the first rule of the Beer Command. The one that states that "We will leave no beer behind."
