hey guys good luck on getting in that tunnel, that would be amazing, i just wanted to add though that DrranXCore is right that they cant withhold records, but if it is your first visit to the archives then you have to complete an application for research (the application form is kept on file for a year) and you also have to sign in and out, also, i dunno if this would help, but the hotel fort garry project was erected by grand trunk pacific railway, ross and macfarlane architects, and geo a. fuller co ltd contractors, so you could try searching there records.

Well we know there is a tunnel, it's just coming up with a way to get in there or at least get the permission to enter it. Come on, Winnipeg is like the coldest and most windy city in Canada and has the highest murder rate.. it makes perfect sense to have a tunnel between the hotel and train station to me.

Maybe someone will come up with a way to be granted entry into the tunnel.

Hello UE crew,
It's been awhile since I've been on here..
The tunnel topic caught my attention. There are a number of tunnels that run under and around Central Station. I was doing some work down there a couple years ago, spent an evening down there. I could have passed a possible entrance but I didn't consider there being a tunnel connecting the two buildings. I'd be happy to help. This would be the ultimate UE experience for sure.

If this tunnel does in fact exist, my suggestion:
Your chances of finding at least evidence of an entrance are much better at the Fort Garry considering the layout of the building. If a corridor, the entrance would be quite wide and there would be a noticeable scar.
The tunnels at CS are long and there are many restrictions (fences). You would need strict security clearance to do the exploration. I don't suggest doing this one under the table (since it involves major un-abandoned infrastructure.) Anything post 9/11 involving tunnels under a train station / major st / hotel just looks really bad.
Besides, if you have to break an entrance be prepared to foot the cost consider: Insurance / hiring a contractor to jack hammer & re-brick the wall and last but not least your air supply rental.

What proof do you have that this tunnel exists so far?

cause winnipeg is F***ing cold in the winter and they wouldn't want important people to walk across the street in the -50c weather the very moment they arrived in the city..

that and even I have heard about this tunnel from people and I dont live there and haven't been there in like 6 months.

The owner of the Fort Garry has verified its existence. He doesn't know if it's accessible, but hopefully we'll be able to find out soon.

I first heard about the tunnels when a friend of mine told me about them. He said he used to skate board in them years ago. This man does *NOT* lie or make up stories, just one of these people. Next evidence came when me and my wife did a Winnipeg ghost tours, and they talked about the tunnels. There was a murder of a prostitute in the tunnels and possible haunted which led to its permanent closure apparently.

Besides is it so far fetched? Theres the exact same set up in Torontos Union.

how long ago did he say he skateboarded in them? cause they've been closed up for some time now.

and i know they exist, for a fact. I've seen the entrance.

the fort garry tunnel is actually just a small (and by small i mean about 30 inches tall) steam tunnel between the fort garry and the smokestack at the forks. The entrance at the hotel has been cemented over so you can't even get into it.
