I know I brought this up last year, and no one knew any information about it, so we thought it was Urban legend, but apparently its true!!!
Last week my wife went on one of those Winnipeg Ghost Tours, and she says that they talked about a Tunnel that used to connect the VIA station on Main St (Grand Central) and Fort Gary Hotel. The tunnel used to contain a barber shop, a very fancy restaurant and other shops such as clothing repair. They were also used for transporting passengers baggage back and forth to the hotel.
The tunnels sat abandoned for nearly 50 years and were finally walled up. One of the unofficial reasons was because of paranormal activity. apparently a hooker was murdered down there, and she is said to haunt it today. Some people who explore the tunnels reported that the ghost scratched "CALL COPS" and "HELP" into their arms. Anyways, I know this isnt a paranormal forum, but Im just giving some background. Im guessing the real reason they quoted was "safety" concerns, or activity like the murder.
Anyways, Id VERY much like any information anyone knows about these tunnels. I wish I could get some photos of the restaurants as they sit today. I wonder if we could find anything from City Planning?

| | | | yeah apparently they're haunted and a hooker was killed in there before they were closed but i talked to my mom (who used to work at the fot garry and is good friends with the owner) and she said that he would be very interested.

| | | | God Id love to explore really, but Im a 300 lb man, and not in very good shape as per upper body strength. I couldnt lift myself out of a hole if my life depended on it, so Id prob be dangerous to come along. But otherwise wow, thatd be cool
