Do you REALLY need to post about this ???

Funny thing, I could ask what people think about respirators, or ethics and people STILL would want to comment. The rehashing of old issues continues to bring in new and insightful comments. I am familiar with the search tool, thank you for pointing out though. Here's my take on it since you brought it up, I am scouting a few sites where I would find this type of insight helpful. Since you found it necessary to point out that you don't think much of my thread, I feel it necessary to point out you are under no obligation to read threads that you find dull and tedious.
I may be a newbie to this sight as my star indicates, however I am not a newbie to UE. I joined this forum to expand my practical knowledge of UE, the waxing philosophical on the nature of urban exploration that we engage in on different threads is a pleasant diversion, but to me it's the practical insight from other members that really counts. In my view a practical thread no matter how often done, has a practical use.

I was tentative about posting it but I really wanted some more info, the reason I thought we were all here. I joined this community and have tried to be respectful of it's members, as well as it's rules. I do not believe that just because my thread might be dull, or has been done before that I was wrong to post it.

My take: Drain during the day if storms are a threat in any manner. Drain at night after ten as there wont be as much traffic, rain (or flows from earlier in the day tend to be reduced) or eliminated by night time in Colorado, unless you're in a simply massive drain (like Bohemouth's Tyre or T.I.L. or MLK family)

Better yet post in a thread created by res_novae before you were here. Most FNGs don't know about, and/or use the Search Function.

Mod maybe this thread should be merged to this link:

I like going during the day, for photography quality. Cover isn't much of an issue for me, I've climbed into a window on the busiest street in Winnipeg in broad daylight clearly visible by hundreds of people, without incident. Stealth isn't always that important.

I ALWAYS go in the day. If its something that requires the cover of nightfall I'll come back that next morning at 430 or so while its still dark, get in under the cover of darkness and wait it out inside till the sun comes up. Best of both worlds easy in and good light

Night, always. Usually between 2 and 4 in the morning, but parking the car in some way as to be inconspicuous is always a bitch.

For me, in addition to good visibility, there's more noise and activity for one to take cover and hide in during the day. At nighttime, all is expected to be quiet, and they say a burning candle can be seen from a mile away.

Night is loud, I have no clue what night you have in Michigan, but in Virginia there are Owls and Tree Frogs and Crickets and screaming, angry mother Foxes(why do I always find those here?) and all sorts of loud, obnoxious night critters running around.

Night in my area is equally alive with nature at night. I'm just saying that, should some noise be made by accident, it would seem less curious during the day, when humans are supposed to be more active. Furthermore, the likelihood of bumping into objects or tripping are heightened at night no matter how careful you are.

Damn, and I bought mine just form this!
Seriously though, I’ve never given much thought to the noise issue. I really think it depends a lot on whether you’re in the city or country. Quit a few of the locations around here are in neighborhoods where trucks are coming and going all night long, The bigger risk I think would be a loading dock worker, or forklift driver seeing your flashlight.

I am a day guy as well. I get a little nervous in really old buildings that Im unfamiliar with at night, makes it a lot easier to make something collapse, step through a dead spot on the floor etc. Daytime is also better for pics. When I go during the day I always wear a pair of khakis and a collared shirt because in the event you are discovered if you are semi well dressed and its daytime, whoever discovers you is more likely to cut you some slack if you look respectable
