| | | I would like to see the insides of some of the older buildings around Victoria, especially the Janion Hotel, which I believe has been closed since the 70's or early 80's. I also would have liked to have explored the burnt remains of my old school - Happy Valley Elementary - before it was torn down.

Funny, when I lived in Vic, I was a political reporter and had open access to the Leg. Didn't think much of it at the time, but I could have gone anywhere. I did explore an awful lot of the building, as it is huge. But I never found anything all that cool or exciting. Since I had a name to protect, hard to be found trying doors in the basement, ya know? But the press room at the top was cool, ancient room with gorgeous paneling and pix of old reporters and premiers. And a beer vending machine ;)

Beer vending machine in the press room? That explains a lot of the reporting we get Cheers! -PoT

| | | I would want to explore that McDonalds barge from expo '86. I remember going to it as a kid and heard rumors that they were going to sink it as an artificial reef for diving. I think it was the Wraiths who since found it and have explored it.

| | | Ok so just for a Sunday stroll i would pick the end of #5 road there is a little village there called Finn Slough. its super cool and people still live there but they are fighting a battle against the provincial government. its self regulated and they get a little annoyed with outsiders walking around but i could take pics there all day.!!!! If I were invisible... ok so now it I actually set my mind to infiltrating something to see it.... perhaps a morgue? perhaps the autopsy department at the UBC medical faculty? hmmm or perhaps not.... Perhaps the old military installments at stanley park... or even better..... i know.... a lawn chair , a book and the vancouver aquarium at night.... nothing more peaceful then sitting in that blue light reading a good book.

| | | Posted by PoT. I have thought of another place that I would be interested in going, possibly even more than the hidden Telus CO. There's this building on 1st Avenue, between Nanaimo and Kamloops on the South side of 1st that intrigues me. It is a large building and there's frequently a black Hummer parked there too. We've done some poking around and it seems to belong to BC Hydro, but they have better security there than I'd assume Hydro would bother with. They have lots of cameras, eye-beams and dogs. I would assume the eye-beams are set in such a way that the dogs couldn't set them off. We were poking around there one time and walked by the fenced area in the back, went around front and when we got around back again someone let the dogs out to greet us. Anyone have any details on what this may be? Cheers! -PoT

Off the top of my head ... wasn't that building an old banking building? I'm probably wrong and thinking of something else. As for me, i'd just like to "explore" metrotown and do some shopping without any of my kids tagging along. Ahhhh ... the life of a temporary single man.

The location formerly known as bamberton cement plant you mean... RIP.

| | | Ooooh, my mouth is salvelating at the talk of all the bunkers around stanley park, I am certainly going to look into those. There is however a building that has intrigued me for some time. Its way out in Surrey down I think 140th, The abandoned "Surrey Flea Market" It looks like it was built not all that long ago maybe 20 years, a venture gone wrong. It is a fairly large structure and back a bit from the road. I've been wanting to get in there for awhile, it dose'nt look patrolled but I think it would be best to go at night, I unfortunately am lacking transport so the getting there is the difficulty for me. I should have a car soon tho! What really makes me crazy, I yearn for a ICBM silo!, or the hollow mountain fortress of Dr. Evil. [last edit 11/10/2005 10:50 AM by Team Leader - edited 4 times]

| | | I am in Edmonton and I would like to explore the police building on 50th ave and 97 street ? It looks like it was built 10 -20 years ago and i talked with someone who had done a bit of renovating in it. He said the large part of the building is underground. It is supposed to be built like a bunker.

That building used to be a BC Hydro substation, full of transformers and various other electrical stuff. About 10 years ago, most of the power-related equipment (except for the overhead crane which was used to replace/repair the transformers) was removed and the building sat empty for awhile. Within the last six years or so, the building was either leased or sold to a company in the movie production business (special effects perhaps?). Plenty of stuff inside...AC generators, cable, camera dollies, scaffolding, etc. Note the cellular antennae array on the roof.....the building also acts as a cell site for one of our local cell providers. The level of security (dogs, alarms, bars on the windows etc.) serves to keep the neighborhood thieves away.

have you seen the big stretch armoured car that frequents there? I have heard that the new private owner works in the film ind. Fences, hummers, dogs, good security? let your imagination run wild, and come to your own conclusions.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too! |

| | | Although not at all local, I wish I had been old enough to have gone on one of the tours of Pickering NGS when they were offered. These were NOT a public tour, but rather one that involved active dosometer readings...rather different than that which Joe Q. Public has ever had offered. Locally, I can think of a short tunnel I would like to visit (unfortunately protected by a ABALOY lock at both ends, and not somewhere I want to get caught) and there are other areas at work that likely would be quite fun to explore. There are ducts as well as cable runs marked on the roads, and I would think the ducts are big enough to crawl through. Peach

Once spoke with a guy who appeared quite shaken...he had mistakenly pressed the button for the wrong floor (one of the upper ones) on an elevator at one of the towers there. When the doors opened, he was immediately 'greeted' and then 'challenged' by several machine gun-armed 'gentlemen' who eventually, sped him on his way. Apparently, the location of a goverment agency wishing to remain anonymous?
