That sucks. Next time I'm in Colorado I'll just super ninja my way in and send you gps coordinates. It was always fun growing up when ym dad would point it out as we drove by.

You can still get closer with USGS, just not all over.

I've been feeling funny since I went in that open crypt. Not sure what it is.

Ummm...okay...

word of advice...

NEVER EVER EVER spend 45 minutes on the web looking for the coordinate location of NORAD while trying to find it on the new maps.google.com site.

Especially while you are sitting in the secure network operations center (Ops Bridge) for the regions largest telecommunications service provider.

For some reason, they frown on it.

They weren't quite satisfied with some of my answers..."I was just playing with the new google satellite imaging service..."

Try finding Groom Lake/Area 51.
If I've got the right spot, it's whited out.

lol, NORAD is not hard to find. they even have tours(i live near NORAD). if you use something like Keyhole you can find NORAD and Area 51 easily and it's about the same res as the surrounding area. you can actually fly over Area 51 and take all the pictures you want, they don't care.

the new sat image stuff is great! now i don't need to worry about using another computer that doesn't have Keyhole installed, even tho Keyhole is MUCH much better(also google).

I really like this new feature google is offering. First itll help me find exact locations of buildings. Second I can get some real awsome over head photos of the buildings I infiltrated and make a map out of them and post them on my site.

What is that?

Deep into the darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortals ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the stillness gave no token, And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, Lenore?, This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, "Lenore!" Merely this, and nothing more.

I'm really glad that I'm amongst so many like-minded individuals, because I just got bored and was fiddling around with this satellite thing, and the FIRST thing that came to my mind was not, "I'll find my house!" or "I'll find obvious outlets that could be storm drains!" but "I'm gonna go see Area 51!!!!!!!!!!"

Unfortunately, it, and a lot of other places in the Nevada Test Site are covered in green dots. Poopity poop.

However I DID finally see the alleged Pentacle formed by the streets surrounding the White House in Washington DC. Groovy.

Okay, I admit it - I just spent an hour surfing around on google looking at the "gray places" - military facilities...there's some gnifty stuff in them thar places.

In map they will be gray...that means government land...

I've been flying around Area 51 and the Trinity test site...gnifty!

Also found this one around Area 51. Wasn't mentioned on that other site, though.

I think the big X with perfect edges is a little to coincidental. ;)

Those are pretty trippy!

I'd guess most of them are some kind of bomb targets...

But what the heck is this?

I guess it could be - compared to say - this

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Greeley,+Colorado&ll=40.313988,-104.504871&spn=0.062828,0.060511&t=k&hl =en

I was mistaken, I thought it was within the boundries of Area51, it's just a couple miles outside though

When I first started looking around the Nevada Test Site on here, that one is what I concluded to be the actual Groome Lake Facility. I could be wrong though. However, it is within the correct proximity to Rachel, NV, which's where you're supposed to stay if you're an Area 51 hunter, trying to get a telephoto shot of it from one of the surrounding hills.
I lied, that is nowhere near the Nevada Test Site. I have no idea what it is. It was just the same shape as the one near Rachel. I was looking around Syracuse, NY for cool stuff that I might explore with maps.google (cause I'm going to school there next year) and noticed that the Syracuse Airport was fudged out. Hmmm.

I would say that things like the triangle with the circles in it are the dudes from Google being a-holes and photoshopping those into their satellite images just to mess with dorks like ourselves. I mean, seriously, if I were designing the maps.google system, I certainly would scatter things like that around the Nevada Test Site just to make alien hunters pee their pants, knowing full well that they would be spending hours on end in their offices at work searching around. It points DIRECTLY NORTH for Chrissake, and appears to be on the side of a mountain yet isn't warped at all like it would be from a satellite photo. If it were really there, whoever built it would have had to use some sweet geometry skills to make it look like a perfectly equilateral triangle from a directly overhead shot.

[edit: I lied in the first paragraph. My mistake

It really does appear to be underground explosions as opposed to craters from surface explosions.
