All i can say is Inova Inova Inova.
I personally own the X5 and the X03
If you can dish out $40-$70 on a LED, its more than worth it.
The x5 provides a really nice wide beam of light that will flood a wall or something close range very nicely, I took it out to the beach last weekend and it actually penetrates pretty deep if you are in a truly dark situation.
If you want a bad ass flashlight though, go with the X03, that Thing is a BEEEEEEEEEAAAAST! IT will penetrate the presidential tint on a limosine like ron jeromy through....im sorry thats too graphic. Anyway if you want a flashlight that is bullet proof, extremely compact, brighter than S##T, waterproof for hundreds of feet, that has a touch on or twist on function, and goes for under 70 bucks, this is the one to go for. They have some rechargeable models too with a neat looking grip.

Only downside....if you get caught....you're going to make the cops jealous....oh so jealous

yeah...a little too raph

A couple of months ago I got hit by a drunk driver... he ran, but blew through a radar trap doing 91 with me right on his ass. Thankfully, the cops saw his paint on my car and realized I was trying to chase the asshole down - they got him pulled over after a short chase, I pulled over with the cop, told the cop he'd hit me, and the cop said he'd talk to me in a moment.

Guy went to jail for felony hit and run, 91 in a 60, driving on a suspended license, and of course, DUI. After they'd hauled the guy off one of the cops and I started talking - he saw me looking over the (thankfully, minor) damage on my car with my Luxeon LED flashlight and commented "cool light! Where'd you get it?". Next thing we know I've got that, my Brinkmann wanna-be Surefire, and another Brinkmann LED light out, along with my 1 million candlepower spotlight (I used that for pizza delivery to find houses), and he's got his police issue lights out. He had a Streamlight and a Surefire, both rechargeable models, along with a typical Mag. The cops wound up being really cool to me in this situation, we bullshitted for probably 10 minutes after the guy got hauled off. They were both drooling over the Luxeon LED flashlight after I told them the battery life on it.

Funny thing is - the cops asked how fast *I* was going trying to chase the guy - they saw him slam on the brakes when he saw them, but before their radar got a lock on his speed. I said I'd tell them as long as they didn't ticket me for it, they laughed and said they wouldn't ticket me, but may need me to testify in court against the guy. We were doing a little over 120, cops said that's about what they estimated but had nothing to back it up with.

Uhm.. yeah.. wasn't supposed to be this long.. oops.

<edit>By no means do I advocate street racing or driving anywhere near this fast on a public road. The only reason I was going that fast was to get the asshole's plate #, I already had 911 on the phone and was relaying the car info to them.

Justice is served....dont drive drunk.....its bad enough to f with your own life...dont need to kill other people in the process. Sounds like you at least ran into some decent police. Just hope they dont ever pin the flashlight on you as a "robbery tool".

yeah...a little too raph

This is actually the 3rd drunk that I've helped send to jail, believe it or not. I admit, I've driven plenty of times when I shouldn't have, and was just lucky that I never got in a wreck or got arrested (I don't even drink anymore). If I see someone that's weaving a little, but staying in their lane and not being stupid I usually ignore them - they could just be tired, or trying to eat, something like that. But if I see someone obviously shitfaced on the road - such as driving without lights, speeding up and slowing down, driving in 2 lanes, something that's just screaming "I'M HAMMERED!", then I'm on with 911 ASAP.

I'm sure someone at Sprint has wondered why I make so many 911 calls - when I was delivering pizza I averaged 35-45k miles a year on the road, most of that at night. It was pretty common for me to witness at least one accident a month... part of the reason I have a current first aid/CPR certification and carry a first aid kit + flares in my car. Every encounter I've had with the police in those instances has been positive, and they always thank me for calling them in those cases.

Oh yeah.. uhhhh... back to the topic *cough*. If someone tries to pin a flashlight on me as a "robbery tool", I can just pull out my first aid kit and current American Heart Association CPR/First Aid card, issued by a local fire department. It would be ludicrous for them to pin that on me after seeing that.

<edit>dark, I'm still waiting to hear what happened with that drunk guy - I plan to sue for the damages to my car, but don't have his info. I need to get a copy of the police report.

Police reports....I swear they try to hide those things like saddam hussein. I had to wait like 3 court dates before i could even get a peek at the one on my case. Good luck, hope ur car gets fixed n paid for. Those certifications would definitely come in handy....::thinks::
