AZ missle silo

ok after 2 years searching I have found the location of an open? abandoned Titan 2 missile complex in Az.
Now I am looking for info on it and any help would be great.
The only access is through a rusted steel hatch that someone cut open, which leads to a ladder going down.
I know where it is but havent been there and wont give out its location. Anyone who has been there, is it still open?

Far as I know, they are all currently closed up. Well, there is one that was being renovated, but from what I know, It's locked up tight.

Last I heard, there was about 5 tons of earth and concrete poured over the silo that was last accessable.

And 2 years? I found GPS coordinates for all of the silos in the ring in about 5 minutes. My cousin in Tucson and I tried to find a couple, but they were all covered over.

If you have some different info, I would love to check it out.

There was one that was open for a minute, maybe like 2 years ago. I saw photos and video from some meetup there, wasn't sure if it was in NM or AZ though.

In the video they show people climbing down through the cut hatch, which may have not been the smartest thing to show on the internets

Go to CO if it's abandoned silos you seek. Titan 1's though, no twos. As far as I know, none of the two's had intact launchers anyway. They had to fill them in as part of some disarmament treaty, leaving only the command center.

True. The only Two with an intact launcher is the museum, which is pretty cool. All of the others were completely filled in as well as the tunnel leading to it from the control module.

I think the one you are thinking of was on BLM land, and they dumped a whole truckful of dirt and broken concrete into the opening and it is sealed up beyond digging out.

That's intriguing. It's much easier to dig and pour acid on concrete than it is to get into a non-existent silo. I bet it's in pristine condition, too.

I know about the museum and im not talking about that one. I found all the locations in Az for all 18, yes that took 5 min. but finding the one that was cut open 2 years ago took some time and investigation. As no one wanted to reveal its location.

And they filled that one in. If you are saying you were in, post a pic. If you are just saying you found it online, you may as well stop.

It was filled in.

I don't really understand why everyone here hates history museums, generally speaking of course. It seems to me that hardly anyone has the balls to do some field research themselves and just want a guided tour of some really old thing. Might as well just go somewhere where it's professionally preserved. In all fairness, the Titan Museum seems pretty tight. I'd visit it if I were in the area.

Who said they hated the museum? I've been a couple of times. It's great.

They offer a chance to be locked in overnight, with full access, along with a former crew member that worked at the silo when it was operational during the cold war. I would fucking LOVE to do this, but it is a little cost prohibitive. I believe that they told us it would average somewhere around $300 per person, and we needed to have 8-10 people to do it. It was also a schedule nightmare, as it depended on the availability of a crew member to do it, and that in the past they have had to call people with like 72 hours notice that it was their turn. Plus you had to pay up front. I am not even sure if it is offered officially. They way the tour guide was talking, it was just something that the docents had thought up as a way to generate funds for the museum, but didn't want to be tied down to doing officially, on a regular basis. But damn it would be cool to be locked in there for 10 hours with a camera and run of the place with someone who used to work in the silo to show you all the cool spots.

Blah Blah Blah. Shut up and open the damn door.

The overnight one is officially a tour there, it's on the website bro.

I used to live a mile from that place and ride past it on my bike all the time, then one day took the 5 hour tour. It's pretty awesome.

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

Though maybe I should modify my original statement to include only people who are too cowardly to explore by themselves. There isn't anything wrong with museums or anything, especially Titan which seems fantasically awesome. It's just that there are so many people here lately that don't actually care much for the thrill of adventure but are still begging for places to explore, and...well...museums would logically be the correct place, but they seem against them for some reason.

Well I guess this is as good a place as any to announce my return.....I've been away for quite some time!

The silo that the OP is speaking about is, as Jonno eluded to, sealed for the foreseeable future. The number is 570-3 and you're not getting in there without an excavator. We enjoyed it while it was open(EPIC) but unfortunately, I fear it may be sealed forever since it sits on state owned land. You can see the pictures in the DB using the link below, I've got a ton more pictures that I should upload.

Now, for the open silo you seek, there are indeed limited options. I won't be making it easy for you but there are two accessible silos in Arizona. Both have their unique challenges and one comes with the very real chance of going to jail. Happy hunting!!!

Sorry to jump in here, but are you sure I *know* some members shot the insides of some II launchers out here in Cali. They just have to be left topless so the spy sats can take pics and KNOW nothing is inside....

I know what your referring to and those really are not an option for people without military clearance. Trying to see those II sites can land you in federal prison, or dead.

I'm sorry, all I really comprehended was the topless part. Were they hot? And if so can someone direct me to these pictures?
