Dips on downtown for our turf...to bad we don't have Chinatown that would b a epic war ground

That's cool we will take under downtown when project2501 first posted that I thought of the scene in Ron Burgundy when the rival new channels meet in the streets.

lol, that is exactly what I didn't want to happen. Hope you guys don't view us as a rival group just because we have chosen to be exclusive. We just have tight group of people that already is a nice amount of people to be trying to get in and out of places. A while back I helped someone figure out how to get into Sterick and later found out they took 10 people at one time. If you guys know the entrance I am talking about then you know this would have probably taken them about 30 minutes to get 10 people through there. I think this is why that entrance is no more and I blame myself for that in that I gave too much info and made it too easy and it became common knowledge. People started leaving evidence there that explorers were coming and going on a regular basis and so they sealed it up. I hate that so much because it was a awesome POE. Just have to be careful how many people know how to get in some of these places or it becomes less historic. I won't make that mistake again. At least we all got to see it before that happened.

I really think it was ATT doing work in the area that led to that entrance being sealed up. I was in the area the other day and discovered a bunch of marks spraypainted on the ground denoting where fiber lines run.

Might be up for that. My main connection is Memphis historian Ann Meeks. She has written several articles in the commercial appeal throughout the years about Memphis history. I know her personally. Sometimes the questions I ask her she consults a professor in the history department at the university. I am also currently trying to get a meeting with Jimmy Ogle. He seems to know the most about Gayoso. To answer your other question I don't go to U of M.

Yeah maybe so. That is too bad it was fun while it lasted. I remember when we first found that POE we popped a couple man holes back there and said to each other "wouldn't it be crazy if one of these led into the basement" well turned out that one did it was such a rush. It was only me and one other person that night.

Introduce yourself to the professor at the university or Jimmy Ogle? If its the right professor I don't know how many there are he should know Ann Meeks.

I think you are correct on that. I don't know if he and Ann know each other or not. Ya know he does all these tours around memphis but he is also the one that took the news channels underground and all that.

It was good to meet you guys at the Chattsplore event and I am so glad you could get together a Memphis event. I would be down for this in a heartbeat its just unfortunate that its the same day that we do the Festicle event in ATL. Hope you have a good turn out and cant wait to see the pics. Sounds like there is much goodness to be seen in Memphis above and below. Do one after the holidays and SPECTRE will come up to play!

I've never been on this UER thing. I recently met a guy that does all this message board UER stuff and I mentioned that I've been exploring Memphis for a few years now. He told me about some crazy online drama. As I really only share pictures with my friends via Flickr I had no idea what he was talking about. I had to see for myself. I am absolutely shocked that there is a website like this. I was wondering why the hell so much stuff has been sealed up lately. Talking about sites and ways in openly online. Damn. And this Sgt Ron guy? What a pretentious dick. I just checked out his website. I have no idea how he comes off as so much better than. He whines and complains about the problem all the while pushing his own website on a message board like this. His pictures blow, the "historical" info is nothing new and easily accessible, and it basically attempts to make exploring look WAY cooler than it really is by rocking wicked flashlights, breathing apparatuses, dark clothes, and mace. Its a fun hobby, not a ticket to be a complete badass. And mace?! I go exploring in Memphis all the time alone and I've never had a problem....9mm mace, wow. And six locations? ....in Memphis? Ha! I guess that's a good thing. Less locations to get closed up for good. It's still baffling though. All this under the guise of "caring about history". If it was about the history then where are all the pics of the non abandoned historical sites? I guess that doesn't make you look as cool. I just wished more people did this stuff for personal enjoyment and not bragging rights to some online community. Isn't Facebook the site that's supposed to give people their sense of self worth and belonging.

On the positive note. It's good to see some Memphis people experimenting with film. Especially medium format. Hells yeah.
