|  | | | Can I ask who banned Kn0wledge (Avatar-X, one of the mods?), and why? The reasons given:
Racism, abusive behaviour, general annoyance to the forum
Certainly he can be annoying, however I don't recall seeing any instances of racism. The abusive behaviour is more or less him giving as good as he's getting, e.g. his recent debate with Mark on the Other forum (where, if anything, Mark tended to be the more abusive IMHO). If you're going to ban Kn0wledge for being too vocal, and annoying lots of members with his outspoken beliefs, you'd better start banning a whole lot of other members too, as I've seen a lot worse from members who don't seem to have been banned yet.

3. If user is not violating rules, they are just asked to be less annoying or given an annoying star.
4. When Av finally gets fed up with them (or one of the other mods brings it up) they are banned. |
So I can assume from this that complaints were made to the mods by other users. He must have been violating the rules, as I don't recall seeing him get the 'annoying star'. Or did Av just get 'fed up' with him?

kn0wledge made several racial slurs regarding france. He then refused to accept that he had done so, and also informed me that all germans are aryans, among other things. The offense was bad enough, and I warned him not to repeat it -- but he didn't even admit to it, so after half an hour of saying the same thing over and over I just threw up my hands and said "enough is enough".
Oh, he also vowed to come back after being banned, which is another violation of the rules.

I don't see ANY reason why you shouldn't... and any reason you could come up with for not doing so sure makes your motives suspect.

Also, the fact that you mention several times that you don't like kn0wledge colours your opinion and therefore means you are unable to be objective about this. Even if he had made a valid point I'm inclined to think you would have disagreed with him on point of principle.
Also, given that this is a forum, and I thought a forum was a place where you share opinions and thoughts, I was hoping that a viewpoint different to yours might, if not welcome, at least be tolerated.
I have no place in my life for racism, homophobia or anything of that ilk. I have met kn0wledge, and have found that this is also the case with him.
What I also have no place for is a childish attitude of "This is my site, I don't like you I'll do what I want." This sort of attitude belongs in the nursery. I would have thought you might be mature enough to realise that.

But yes, it's no secret -- He was banned for the racism, but also because many people don't like him, and he seems to be at odds with everyone here, and there have already been numerous complaints about him. But it was mainly because of the racism.
I believe that every group of people and race should be welcome on these boards. Racial slurs and other racism destroy that.

Actually, I have no such thoughts. There has been discussion about forcing new members to prove their worthiness in a variety of means, but I personally don't think that this is possible and I don't agree with it. As it stands right now, new members only have to pass a simple quiz (which is based on the forum rules) to gain entry.
As for the "childishness" comments -- I made it quite clear that racism is not tolerated on this board. I also made it very clear that I am not the only one who has a problem with kn0wledge.
While I may have used the "this is my site" excuse as a final reason to ban kn0wledge, keep in mind that I try to do what is best for everyone, and frankly, having racist people around is not.

Actually if you read the log I posted, you'll note I started out by first kicking knowledge, then informing him not to repeat his actions.
Had he simply said "sorry av, you're right, I shouldn't have said that" or whatever, the matter would have been over, and he would still be here. But no. He had to argue, and in doing so also insulted me personally with his racist comments.
