| | | Hello! Not sure if this is valuable information, or if I'm 100% accurate...
someone checked the LAND REGISTRY office (with legal log in access) and ALL the houses in the Airport zone that are 'closed/abandoned' are no longer registered. Every house should be registered, but I guess since this is now a large government owned area, they can pull the registry? Weird....
I'm typing this with my middle fingers. I love the smell of mold in the fall. |

| | | Posted by BeerBunny I saw a truck last night on my drive home. I was going to stop them and talk to them, but I didn't know how friendly they are. I looked like I fool. I pulled up waved and drove off. Loser...

First post, not bad for a Rookie. Im not a big photo guy but perhaps there might be an idea to get a better camera. Ill have to look up DSLR, I have no idea what that is.

| | | I'm presuming this is not the whitevale schoolhouse? I knew the person who had it- he wrote a book which is entirely appropriate for on here.
Wolseley automobile; History; Conservation and restoration Book (ISBN 0969937202 ) Good read of what you MIGHT find in an abandonment. The complete spare parts collection for probably the first automobiles in Canada that would exceed 70 MPH. Peach

| | | That last pic posted by Rallypoint1 is of the S.S. No.21. School Section #21 was built in 1864 for the Locust Hill Community. Located on the John Pike property one lot south of the Reesor property.

Umm I'm not even too sure about either. I do know that the Reesors still live on that north part of the property{back where the cemetery is}, also the Pearce family still lives in the area{Cedar Grove}. I haven't seen the Reesor book but the family is fuckin HUGE!!!!!!!!!!

| | | I was in the area yesterday so took a quick jaunt through and it was quiet - hard to park and not ditch the car. I definitely will go back once the snow is gone so I can actually go on the property - I tried and was waist deep in snow!!!! I will add some shots to this thread tomorrow - same ones as everyone else but hey not many options from the road

| | | As of 2 weekes ago, houses are coming down quickly in Altona. Lots of heavy equipment around. Heading east from the main intersection, it looked like 4 or 5 houses had just been taken down. Talked with the neighbour of that beautiful house. He's ben there for 35 years. Said he had 9 neighbours between him and the 4 corners...now he has none. Folks have been trying to rent that place. Cops were called when a few kids were seen snooping around the house...the COPS tried to rent the place. Neighbour was cool...pissed off over the whole situation, but cool.

| | | That first photo is the stone house on the corner off the claremont rd. It will be a fight to tear it down. That second one is at the other end of the road I believe. To the north. The third one was east of the four corners, on the south side, it used to be the car service/dealership. Stephensons I think. On the north side is Terry Lewis Farm, East of Terry was Bob Lewis. House was demoed a few years ago. West of Terry was the old Ford Tractor dealership and the feed mill. Gone many years ago. The old house at the corner used to be postal and convenience store. The farm across the road kitty corner was Nighswander. North of town east side was Hulshof. West side was Tapscott. South on 28 east side is Barkey, west side was Carter. Go south of the claremont rd and you can find the Trans Canada pipeline running about 1/2 mile south in an east-west direction. If you go south to the tracks and follow them towards the Hastings yard (we call it the Hastings Yard because the farm its on was Hastings) between the 7th and 8th conc there used to be a train station. I dont know if its gone or not. When these farms were going in their prime, it was a lot of dairy and beef farms. They were showy. Some of the best kept places in their time. A lot of show cattle came out of this area. A little history as well. There is a house on the property that was built by Louis Riel. It was a summer home. Its still there.
