Hope you plugged a heater into that extension cord cause that place would have been bitchin' cold at night. One day I'd like to go back and hit it up again but this time with respirator. My chest hurt for days.

| | | Wow. Jail time and 18 months probation. That's pretty harsh! I'm sure they were less-than-kind to this fellow because of his breach of probation and theft.

I've only ever slept over at Malt. That was in the summer though. Stupid Honda Indy woke me up. I was thinking of sleeping there though too, lots of beds and it is pretty far from me. More importantly, did you find my tripod?

Stop posting your shitty "urbart" thread. No one fucking cares, that same shit has been posted year after year and its becoming null + void. As far as "clowns with cameras". your not a real graffiti artist, you can listen to as many Sage Francis albums as you want, wheat paste your lame ass poetry to your own song, over your own music videos of abandoned places, but you are the fucking clown.

| | | All I can say with regard to this place is that I'm glad I got in and out before all of this cops/beatnik camping/forum arguing nonsense. I've seen more smashed windows, kicked in doors, graffiti (of both the spray paint variety and others) and items from within the place strewn about in the last month or two than I did all through last spring and summer. I was in and out on at least four occasions and no one was the wiser-- Just the way I like it. Now, I'll probably never go back as it's become a local (ahem) "heatscore", and I have too much to lose professionally if I were to be caught. I'm obviously not blaming this directly on UER or most of its membership, but it's a wonderful coincidence that as the threads on this topic become more plentiful, so does the ruination of what was once a really unique exploration opportunity.

This. I grew up in the area and had appointments there and remember it when it was open, and after it was closed I watched it for a long time, waiting for the opportunity to check it out. Luckily I managed to get back home to check it out a little bit ago (and it was awesome to randomly meet you, hyphen!) but I hate to think of how it looks now. I'm glad that I was also able to bring along one of my close friends who spent a lot of her childhood there as well, since her mother worked there. It's really too bad this is the way a lot of great locations end up.

A trespassing ticket is $65 and is equivalent to a speeding ticket. If you aren't vandalizing or stealing or in possession of break-in tools, and you treat security and/or police and/or property owners with respect, you will not be charged with anything. Trespassing itself is not a criminal charge. And cops will not charge you unless you are a class A douchebag towards them, or you do something stupid, like run. You have nothing to lose professionally (except $65) if you are caught, despite your profession. If police do charge you and you didn't commit any of the offences above, a plea of not guilty will suffice to close the case, and a $65 trespassing ticket will be the end of it, every time. No criminal record. I know I'll likely be bombarded for putting this out there, but fuck it. Why so dramatic people? this isn't bank robbery, its trespassing!

+1 I recently saw a place in my hood (that I have known since a little girl) get destroyed. Lately it has blown up and sadly I saw the vandalism and destruction of this beautiful house. I really hope everyone on here is simply an explorer and not causing damage to any locations.
I'm typing this with my middle fingers. I love the smell of mold in the fall. |
