| | | Ahh, I don't realy want a big debate on this, so please, if you have an opinion, may you please refrain and bite thy toung unless you have posative things to say. I would be greatly pleased if perhaps the choice of genders included a 'hermaphrodite' or 'other' opintion. I hate gender option thingys.

| | | I agree. Whether someone is born a hermaphrodite, or chooses to identify as another sex, or whatever the case may be. What I've seen most people do, is have 3 choices. Male, Female, Undisclosed. Perhaps that'd take care of it? I'd say either Undisclosed or Other would be more than suitable. -Ex

| | | There's always the option I've taken. Leave it blank. I suppose if you're all of the above, and want to show it, a hermaphrodite option would be good. My concern is that some idiots would use it for fun, or as a joke.

| | | I think knowing someones sex is an important part of getting to know them. Its pretty basic information. I think an XXY option would be fine but I don't see why there should be an undisclosed. There is just no point. That is unless all you plan to do is lurk or something.

| | | Yeah, I've left it as blank for now. The only reason I ask is that some times people do not realise, and say some things that can offend me. I suppose they would not offend a bloke, but they do not realise I'm not a 'guy' guy so to speak. Yep, don't want to make it a 'pride' argument. Just a simple request and if it's too much of a big deal I won't worry about it.

Sadly, that's probably exactly what would happen. Perhaps if Av set up something specially that wouldn't show up in the usual menu, but could be set manually by him. You have to admit that it would be a feature that statistically would not be employed very often, but it would be nobe of him to have it there to properly accomodate people that wouldn't fall entirely under one label or the other.

So you can take the 10 minutes to add a bunch of new gender choices, and yet you can't spend the time to add a straight pride icon? You and I know it takes very little work to add a new icon. Tell you what: I'll even MAKE the icon for you, and all you gotta do is enable it. Give me dimensions, and file format, and I'll send it to you.

It has been discussed and not resolved, so no, I won't, actually. Because a well-known explorer asks for something, you jump right to it. Some non-so-well-known people ask for something that has been shown that a large number of our group wants and you thumb their noses at them? How many hermaphrodites/trans/etc do we have on the board? A HELL OF A LOT LESS THAN WE HAVE PEOPLE THAT HAVE ASKED FOR THIS SIMPLE THING. I think you should keep your personal politics about gay rights off the board. Equality means equality. It does not mean preferential treatment for specific groups. That's called reverse discrimination. I ask you again: Will you continue to be a discriminator or will you allow what's right and fair to take precedence over your personal feelings?

| | | i asked you to keep this OUT OF THIS THREAD, since it has nothing to do with the gender request. you may post it in one of the other threads relating to this issue. i'm not adding any more icons for personal rights issues, like straight pride or black pride or 'i own a camera' pride. the single one that's there now is gonna stay, simply because i see nothing wrong with leaving it there.

Actually, it has PLENTY to do with gender. And just because you asked, that DOES NOT make it right, Av. You continue to be stubborn about this issue, AND IT'S WRONG. WRONG. As you and I well know, I am one of your most fervent supporters. And you have always counted on me to let you know when I think you're acting inappropriately. In this case, you are letting your personal feelings take priority over the general consensus of the community. And that is power-mongering at it's purest level. I will not drop this, Av. Do whatever you will. Kick, ban, delete. Whatever. You are wrong about this, pure and simple, and you are too hard-headed to see it. I guess that part of me has rubbed off on you.

| | | actually, according to the vote a few threads down: 14 people want the star, 35 don't, and 19 don't care that's 35 who don't want it, vs 33 who don't care or do want it, or a 51% "no" vote. now, that only counts people who've actually voted. according to my records, 85 people have read that particular thread. since there are only 68 votes, that means the remaining 17 people don't care enough to even vote, so we can classify them under "don't care". that brings the "don't care" total to 36, and the total who don't mind the star to 50. now, looking at the numbers, this means that 58% of the forum being represented by that thread, does not care about the star or wants to have it. I hardly see this as "the general consensus of the community".

This was NOT a vote... a 'significant portion' of the community asked for it. I don't recall the same thing being said of the gay pride star. Where was the vote for that? I do like how you deftly managed to sidestep the issue of you abusing your power as site administrator, though.

| | | Perhaps you ought to make it a poll akin to that which you made for the "full membership" issue, and have it appear on the front page, and make it compulsory to vote. And make the results accessible to everyone. Then you will have a true indication of the consensus of the community.
