A Ghost Town in NC. A question.

So I have know of a ghost town in NC for a good long while now. I have never been, but I am interested in it. I also can't find any info on it here on the site. Should I mention the name and post the info on it? Some info says its all still there, others say its underwater.

If it looks like a wolf, acts like a wolf, and howls like a wolf, it's probably an asshole.

Well, if you feel like it, you can send it to me on a PM and I'll research the crap out of it. I have nothing better to do at work. =)

Googling that and a little coffee bring up some interesting history. Seems to tie in with the politics of today.

What is considered a pork project might also be a promise from a long time ago.

Some good reads, thanks for the tip.

I'd love to but I know I'm tied up down here in Nashville for awhile after the first of the year. Stupid commitments to my stupid life.... ::mutters::

better bring scuba gear one town is underwater

The nightmare corpse-city of R'lyeh…was built in measureless eons behind history by the vast, loathsome shapes that seeped down from the dark stars. There lay great Cthulhu and his hordes, hidden in green slimy vaults.

Old guy I use to work with said there was a "sorta" ghost town near the NC/SC boarder along I-85. He said it was a Mill town that had closed in the 70's and just dried up. He and his wife were riding around, and came across it. Said the whole time they were there they only saw one house that was occupied on the entire Mill Hill. I have yet to find it, anyone ever hear of something similar? It must be near Bessemer City, which still has a operating Drive in for those interested, its something to experience and is cheap.

I will look around on google maps and bings bird eye to see if I can uncover anything. I really want to get a group of us from the Carolinas together and make a very thorough record of stuff in the Carolinas.

There is sooooooo much, but most of it is rather small and rural. Just gotta keep ya eyes out. Spartanburg is a surprising city, and so is Greenville.

I have only been to the Carolinas twice now so I did t know y'all were already the best. As for the name we need something awesome, like the group names they had in red dawn. "wolverines, let's explore!"

There are actually a couple ghost towns in the mountains of NC

I know of one, that I have yet to go to, but you cannot drive to it. You get to a certain point, then it's backpacking time for a couple miles. Could make for a fun camping trip... stay in a ghost town. There was an article on it in some local magazine, i'll try to find out exactly what it was.

You guys do know that it IS possible to start a private sub-forum here on UER, or to start up a new Board in the Boards section, yes? Might be easier for all of your plans/activities than just using a single thread. And it could easily define your membership base.
