I've done very little exploring alone, though the area I live in now is in the middle of nowhere. You could see someone coming a mile away. Would I explore an industrial place or whatnot in the city or anywhere else alone? Probably not, though mostly because I'd like to have someone there with me if I somehow got hurt.

Yeah, our main export isn't crippling depression, so people don't feel the need to commit crimes as much.

But at least you're not detroit. Which is awesome to explore, both the city and the abandonment.

Dresden, this made me lol so insanely hard.

Also, I read the entire OP and I still don't agree with it. The two guys I usually explore with hide behind ME when shit goes down.

Oh god, yeah, I've seen guys do that! Good luck hiding behind us, we are not big enough to cover them HA!

And being a female normally means you are smaller than most of your male companions. Which means if there is a small hole or window that someone has to climb through to go open the door for the rest...guess who gets to do it?

The female gets to talk to the cops. Usually they are nicer if there is a woman in the group.

I was saying women are more likely to be targets of crime than men because the scum that assaults and robs people for fun and profit looks for people they think are week. Most women are such.

Dresden (or is it Tracy?) do you have training in martial arts?

I have heard stories of specially trained women disarming multiple attackers and killing them. It's a fact that if you are a strong woman, then you will be better off than a weak man. That said, the average woman is not the same as the average man.

You are an asshole.

if you are a sociopath you have a better chance of winning regardless of size but I'm afraid the statistics favor men as sociopathic men outnumber to women 3:1.

Being big and strong doesn't compare to being mean and vicious. The element of surprise is more advantageous.

Ask my uncle what happened to his 100lb german shepherd when it cornered a 20lb bobcat ... the dog spent 3 days in the vet's office after she reattached his face. $3500 in vet bills.

I'm not sure why I'm an ass hole, but being big and strong is a deterrent. Many criminals will be deterred from committing a crime if they think it's easier to find another target. Strength also comes from your mind and is projected through your body language.

When I said a strong woman will fair better than a weak man I meant psychological strength and training. Learning hand to hand combat and knowing when to just hand over your wallet instead of fighting with an AIDS infested junkie are examples of strength in this context.

May I inquire as to what your profession is?

I just ask because you talk like you know a great deal about this field.

Surely this could be easily resolved by implementing some kind of licensing for female explorers? After passing appropriate tests, a woman could be issued appropriate documentation, declaring the kind of exploring they're permitted to pursue, and the number and nature of companions they're required to have in attendance. Random patrols checking papers would ensure that unlicensed exploring is not attempted.

You know it makes sense.

If this thread wasn't totally ruined before, you two just put the nail in the coffin.

I nominate myself as the chief, and as my first duty I'm going to throw rocks at meta and played. While by myself in an abandoned building, to keep this on topic.

I have explored alone approximately 7 times.

On these 7 occasions I have been raped twice, and was robbed once.

So on 4 of my trips I came away unharmed and was able to explore without any distractions, which i think is a pretty good strike rate.

I think this thread would be salvageable if one people stop trying to white knight a cause that doesn't need white knighting and two people actually read the thread instead of trolling it. I think its more insulting that you feel you have to some how defend all the women of UER as a whole in this thread just because you a man. So instead of actually taking the time to contribute positively, your just flaming out examples of what i was talking about when these sorts of topics come up. don't you see? this kind of behavior is why we can't have anything nice. stop trolling or just dont post anymore in this thread please.

The Misandry around these parts is redonkulous. Sorry I was born with male anatomy.

I'm scared to explore on my own (pussy). I think there's so many variables you really can't say one way or the other.

If you'd made the title of this thread "Should people explore alone?" you probably would have gotten half a dozen thought out responses. But by singling out women you've given the impression that you think women specifically shouldn't explore alone while it's fine for men to do so.

Also posting it in a forum where all the women are smart, strong and dis-inclined to tolerate any shit probably didn't help.

A lot of this stuff nowadays is politically correct MADNESS. I mean, you've only gotta have forced sex with someone without their consent and some idiot somewhere is yelling 'rape!!' these days.

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.
