These are some of the pix I took while in Ohio of the Americana Amusement Park - this has to be my most fav expedition to date!
I'm still processing the 618 photos I have of the overall trip, more will be posted.

*3 shot panorama of the Screechin Eagle.*

* The old ferry docked on land, seems to have washed up from shore*

*
The only ride I could find left on-site, Jerry Couch sold all others.*

*View up on the coaster.*

Thanks, it will be possibly torn down sometime this summer, the park will not reopen from what I hear.

I was super excited about this one.

I've been meaning to get to Americana, looks like a neat place. Was it worth the trip?

It wasn't all that cool, it was my first amusement park, but fuckin Couch sold ALOT of the rides, & even tore down Fantasy Farm which was on the North lot so he could expand his stupid RV junk, so no - I wouldn't bother.

What day of the week did you go? Did you get any harassment for the RV dealership?

I got stopped by someone from the RV dealership my first time there in the daylight. I will have to try again. I went in at dark but it's not the fun in the dark.

Great shots and good work!

It would've been better had Couch 1) not taken over the park with his stupid business, thus making matters worse since he couldn't keep the park open due to Kings Island nearby. & 2), he sold 80% of the rides, so besides the coaster, nothing else is on site.

IMHO

You should check out the one from Ohio on here:
http://weburbanist...schools-and-pools/

here is their little blurb about it:
One of the best-known and most often photographed abandoned theme parks in the US is Chippewa Lake Park in Medina County, Ohio. From 1878 to 1978, the Chippewa Lake site grew into a popular tourist attraction in a beautiful setting. After its closure following its centennial celebration, many rides and buildings were left standing. It’s still possible to see many of the structures today, although they are dilapidated and covered in 30 years of plant growth.

Chippewa Lake Park is a parking lot now.

I like abandoned parks more than non-abandoned. Does that make me weird?

I was there in March of 2009 while they were tearing it down. Major bummer. Good explore, though.

it makes you a little weird but being weird is awesome.

i looooove roller coasters. as for abandoned ones... it'd be cool to SEE them, but i'd probably kill myself trying to "ride" them.
